Sometimes I check my Stat Counter and my Google Analytics to see where the traffic is coming from and how people find my blog.
One of the most entertaining things is to look and see what Google searches are done that lead people to my blog. My favorite search that I saw was…
“How does Blue-Eyed Bride have time to watch so much TV?”
I don’t think there’s already an existing blog post on this topic, so the reader probably wasn’t able to find what he or she was looking for. I will answer the question right now to help out with future searches of a similar topic.
I have written numerous posts about my favorite TV shows, but I’ve never answered this question.
How do I have time to watch so much TV?
We start at 8:00 p.m. and watch until 11:00 p.m. It’s probably too much, but we like television. I also like to read and we also like movies. But my child isn’t awake 24 hours a day and he’s asleep by 8:00 p.m and stays asleep until 8:30 a.m.
We don’t go out on weeknights, for the most part. I have choir on Wednesdays and if I miss one of “my shows” I’ll catch it on the DVR over the weekend.
If I wasn’t watching TV at night, I definitely wouldn’t replace it with something productive. I’m not going to go out and train for a marathon. I’d probably just sleep! Or we’d get Hudson to bed, get a sitter, and go out for dinner, which costs money and isn’t all that fun most of the time.
Our TV is rarely on during the day and if it is we’re watching the news first thing in the morning. Sometimes during Hudson’s nap I’ll turn it on, but daytime TV is so bad that I can’t even stand it.
I’m looking forward to the return of my favorite fall shows. We’ve had a nice little break this summer and have only watched TV on Monday nights (The Bachelor!) and Friday nights (Dateline with my man K-Mo)!
I love television.
And if loving television is wrong then I don’t want to be right.
there is no shame…..no shame at all……
are you catching the bachelor pad…….oh how I love it so
“And if loving television is wrong then I don’t want to be right.”
Amen.
I’m so glad you don’t feel the need to defend yourself here. Watching TV is my way of mentally checking out once everything else is done. I love just to veg and do nothing after a long day. I love to snuggle with my husband on the couch and enjoy some time just being still!
I’m laughing out loud at this…
“If I wasn’t watching TV at night, I definitely wouldn’t replace it with something productive. I’m not going to go out and train for a marathon. I’d probably just sleep!”
We love tv too, and as soon as our little one is in bed we spend a few hours watching it. We tried once to cut the tv out and it just didn’t work. I love it! And reality tv, my oh my, I love you the most 🙂
I love TV too! So much better than watching movies IMO. I got hooked on so many shows when I breastfed my youngest because I would come downstairs and watch TV every time I was up in the middle of the night. I DVR a lot and watch it late at night or early in the morning before everyone is awake.
TV is my source of sanity sometimes. There isn’t a thing wrong with it. Oh and amen to the statement: “And if loving television is wrong then I don’t want to be right.” I couldn’t have said it better myself 🙂
I also love television. Perhaps too much, but, meh – I read, I exercise, I cook, I write, I hang out with friends, we have date nights… I feel like my life is pretty well balanced, even with the TV – and yours is too!
I’m already dreading the 48 hours when we won’t have TV in a month… moving into Casa Nueva on Saturday and U-Verse doesn’t come until Monday! You better bet I scheduled their very first installation slot!
I’m with you! I love tv and make no apologies for it – I’m glad you and so many other commenters do too 🙂
HE HE….. I agree….. Bravo makes me sooooo happy!!!
I wonder what that person does in their “free time”????
That is not bad at all! Night time is YOUR time to relax and unwind. I am so behind on my DVR. I finish work at 6:30 and somehow by the time I finish dinner I don’t have much time! I am catching up this weekend! You are so lucky Hudson sleeps so well!

I am right there with ya! I love tv and don’t know how I survived before there was such a thing as DVR!!
I watch morning TV : GMA and sometimes the Rachael Ray show. After that, there is nothing worth watching, in my opinion. And then in the evenings, we always watch TV after supper and after Levi goes to bed. I always wonder what on earth people do if they don’t watch TV. Weird!
When I feel the need to justify my time spent watching television, I play the DVR card. I can watch a 30-minute show in just over 20! And a one-hour show clocks in at about 42-minutes.
Now the only problem with this is when somebody says, “Have you seen that commercial … ?” I have to give them a blank stare!!
I find it fascinating that someone would Google that. How do they have so much time to sit around doing nothing better than Googling THAT? Someone should get a hobby!
And I’m a total TV junkie. No shame! I’m excited about Dancing with the Stars this fall. And I find that I watch more Lifetime movies and Law and Order SVU episodes during the fall and winter than I do in the warmer months. Right now, I’m all about True Blood and Real Housewives of New Jersey and DC. And Dateline, of course!
that is hilarious!
Oh dear, what is wrong with people!? Watch all the TV you want sista!
Hah, that’s too funny that someone googled that question!
I couldn’t agree more. I don’t even want to know what life without TV would be like.
I don’t feel as ashamed about all the crappy TV I watch now that it is all in french. I like to think that I am working on my oral comprehension skills. Don’t tell anyone but my favourite is lifetime movies from about 10 years ago dubbed in french!
Too Funny!! I’m just the same. My little man goes to bed at 6:30 now so all I have to do is watch TV. I am sooooo pooped after a day of running after him and carrying around a 34 pound 16 month old that all I can do is watch TV, (sometimes I fold laundry, but not often). And tonight is Bachelor Pa…..soooo bad, but oh….soooo good!!
I totally agree…at least TV is free entertainment. Most of the time when I go out to eat or some other form of pricey entertainment, I just feel like I’ve been ripped off and wish I had stayed home instead.
haha I love your last sentence. We also watch alot of tv. I never used to, but now I like to watch and take it easy after a long day of hanging out with my 7 month old.
I love that you are so honest! Mr. Jones and I are the exact same with our tv. It’s “us” time. We can hit pause, get stuff done – and spend no money. It’s just something that makes us happy to do together. It’s relaxing, and fun. Good for you guys! 🙂 And YAY for fall shows!
Haha I love the last statement and I TOTALLY agree! I love watching TV and can’t wait for all of the fall shows to start again 🙂
Word. I love me some TV and I’m not too proud to say I’m totally addicted. What did I do before DVR…that’s something I want to think about 🙂
ummm I meant – I don’t want to think about 🙁
totally right there with you. before i met my husband, our mutual friend trying to set us up told me that he (my now husband) didn’t watch any tv…that he didn’t even own one. i have to admit, i had to think long and hard about going out with him (how shallow does that make me sound?!?) but decided to give him a chance anyway. as it turned out, hubs not only had a tv (apparently our mutual friend didn’t know what he was talking about) but once we were engaged bought a big screen HD tv so we could watch sports together ;-).
so, totally get it. we love watching tv (and reading) and we absolutely love our dvr. i think it’s hilarious, though, that someone would google that! ha!
So…what are you looking forward to watching this fall?
We would have so much fun watching shows together if we lived close! and playing games, and eating, and just hanging too (and walks and playdates with the littles and shopping!)! 😉
Ha ha ha! I love this post! I also love TV and am dying for the return of Grey’s Anatomy among my other faves. But I also feel very guilty that I watch so much TV. However, you said it correctly, I wouldn’t really be doing anything constructive with my time if I did not watch, probably only get more sleep! Thanks for keepin’ it real!
