10 million strong…

…and growing.

As a blogger, I get lots of questions about random things. That’s one of my favorite things about the blogosphere and the Twitter community; we’re all able to share ideas and get ideas. Most of my questions are about things related to parenting, caring for an infant, what I do as a SAHM, party-planning ideas, wedding planning ideas, and even travel tips for babies. Another common question is about my hair.

Here’s my hair philosophy: “My body isn’t where I’d like it to be, so I’m going to focus on my hair.”

How long did it take to grow my hair out? How do I get my hair to be wavy and stay wavy? How does my hair look so “healthy?” (I’m not positive that my hair does look healthy. Maybe it just photographs well. My hair is very dry. I only have to wash it every 4-5 days)

I’ve had short hair for most of my life except for about a year in high school and a year in college. When I met Todd, I had shoulder-length hair. When I knew he was “the one” I decided to grow it out so I could have long hair for our wedding someday.

My hair is naturally wavy. I let it air dry and then the next day (or later the same day) do the “curl down.” Watch the video in this post for the curl down tutorial.

But the secret to long hair? Is these little guys right here. My hair grew a lot when I was pregnant partly due to pregnancy hormones and the other part was due to Fred, Barney, Wilma, Betty, Pebbles, and Bam Bam.

I didn’t take prenatal vitamins because they made me too sick. My doctor suggested I take Flintstones vitamins instead and they were great for the whole pregnancy.

They also caused my hair to grow, grow, grow. So I continued taking them after Hudson was born. I’ve had a couple of hair cuts where I’ve gotten 2-3 inches cut off since he was born, but it always comes back quickly.

So that’s the secret to my long hair.

Flintstones Vitamins. And patience.

Note: If you’re pregnant, please talk to your doctor before switching to Flintstones instead of your regular prenatals!

I never thought of the vitamins…such a great idea! I’m also so glad someone else has dry hair…i wash mine about every 4 days, depending on the activities and such. Love your hair!

I loved those vitamins as a kid and every time we pass them in the store I crave them. Now that I’m not the only adult who will take them I’m buying them when I’m next at Target! hooray!

I swear by these too! I started taking them almost 2 years ago when my best friend got pregnant (prenatals also made her nauseous). The are amazing for hair growth, but mostly I like how tasty they are. It’s the only vitamin regimine I’ve ever been able to stick with.

That is too funny. I couldn’t take the prenatals either and my doctor told me the same thing!! After that, instead of dreading the big horse pills that made me sick, I got to have a tasty treat every day…ha ha. Yum!

I absolutely love Flintstones vitamins, and am so happy to have someone else endorse adults taking them! Anything to help my hair grow is always welcome!

I use the Walmart brand multi-vitamin chewables, since my doctor wanted me to start taking vitamins due my hubby and I’s plan for having a baby. I could not stomach the pre-natal vitamins. They are tooooo big. My doctor said that these chewables work just the same. As an added benefit, my hair had grown alot since I have started taking them.

I keep hearing you talking about this. Seeing as how I’m currently losing hair by the bucket load, I think I’m going to pick some of these up. My hair always hits the exact same point and then stops growing. Let’s see if these little things help..

    Hey Girls,

My son used to take Flinstones and then I found Vemma Next! It was superior in every way! Take a moment and check out the difference: http://www.littleurl.net/1d956c – If any of you would like a free sample, just email me your name and address – I would love to send one to you and your children. Plus, whenever you purchase a bottle of Vemma Next, Vemma gives a bottle to a child in need through the Children’s Miracle Network – much like Tom’s Shoes. Great product and it taste wonderful!

This is hilarious! I’ve heard of this working and my husband actually did this for a while just because vitamins weren’t his thing… he’s over that now though.

Glad this worked and keeped your hair growing!

As for the curl down thing…. I tried it and love it! I’ve done it two days in a row and plan to post about it on Friday…. Only complaint is that I need about 9 more inches to my hair to make it really work. Oh and I need a thicker curling iron! 🙂
