when i pulled my hamstring i went to a misogynist {and other highlights from this week}

1. Wasn’t the Glee Madonna episode pure genius? I absolutely loved it. My favorite quote of the week was “When I pulled my hamstring I went to a misogynist.” Gotta love a ditzy cheerleader. I’m a huge Madonna fan– the old stuff, the new stuff, I love it all. I used to listen to “Borderline” in my room as a child. I’d listen to “Material Girl” in the car with my older cousin and babysitters. I’d skate to “Like a Prayer” at the skating rink. And I’d dance to “Hung Up” when I’d go out with my friends.

So pairing Madonna and Glee is absolutely perfect and the entire episode found great ways to pay tribute to the Material Girl.

2. Crystal Bowersox is so talented. She continues to prove to me that she is the one to win American Idol. Who’s your favorite to win?

3. I cut 3 inches of my hair off. Or I didn’t do it, my hairstylist did. It probably doesn’t look much different to anyone else, and that’s fine with me. But I am already missing those three inches of hair!

4. We’ve gotten a lot of traffic coming through our house. We’ve had at least one showing every day so far and I hope that continues. The whole process is a little exhausting, but fortunately, I’m home all day so I can grab Hudson and the dogs and we can go kill some time in the car while the house is being shown.

5. I’m on a mission to find a solid green or solid orange dress to wear to Hudson’s first birthday party. I’ll post the details of his party later, but I want my outfit to coordinate with the decorations. Some Twitter pals helped me out a little yesterday. I’m excited about getting an orange dress because I never ever wear orange any other time of the year. Between the Clemson, Auburn, and Tennessee conflicts, I’m just better off not wearing orange. But this time I’ll have an occasion and it will be fun to wear orange for the first time in a very long time. Any suggestions for orange dresses?

My friend, Anne Says So, showed me these two from Anthropologie. The orange one isn’t solid. But I love it anyway.

Then Nina sent me some adorable patterns where I could very inexpensively have a dress or tunic dress made in the exact fabric and pattern I want. I like this idea a lot and I have a fantastic tailor in town.

So if any of you see any affordable and adorable green or orange dresses around let me know!

6. I’m off to Atlanta for the weekend! Can’t wait to catch up when I get back!

OMG! That Glee episode was so funny! I love that cheerleader; she’s one of my favorite characters. She never says much, but when she does, you know it’s going to be hilarious!

I have to admit, I watched the whole episode of Glee the other night, and of course loved it. But I had to stop reading your post and watch the Like a Prayer clip, ha!
Hope you have a great time in Atlanta and thanks for sharing the clip!

Check Target for solid orange! I was there the other day and saw an adorable orange skirt and dress and thought, too bad I’m not blonde and can wear orange!

I LOVE that orange and white one, but Nina’s idea could be perfect! (And I promise I’ll take it off your hands when you’re done if I can squeeze into it!) Have a safe trip and a fabulous weekend!

I had never watched Glee before, but I had to tune in this week for the Madonna episode. I really enjoyed it. My husband was in agony though. 😉 I saw a very cute solid green (dark green) dress at Mod Cloth. Good luck. The 2 dresses that you posted are both really pretty!

    That orange dress is amazing!!!
Glee is my favorite. I laugh out loud so much, then go to ITunes and get all the music and rock out to it on my way to work the next day. Hubby isn’t always thrilled on the car ride to work, to say the least. 🙂
Oh and I love the new look of your blog! Very pretty.

I love that orange and white dress from Anthropologie. I want to wear it to a wedding this summer. I haven’t bought it or even tried it on yet, but, I saw it at the store and have been dreaming about it ever since!

I have never watched glee, but I’m, thinking maybe I should! The green dress gets my vote, I like the style of it, but that Orange and white one is also pretty amazing!

I have the same issue with orange- I’m a UGA fan living in Memphis- and I NEVER ever ever wear orange for the sports aspect of it all… My oldest daughter had “color days” in kindergarten and on orange day, she wore an orange bow and a pumpkin shirt, and proudly told her teacher (who I later found out graduated from UT!) that “in our family, we don’t do orange. It’s just not right.”

I do LOVE the orange and white dress though!

Check out Talbots also for dresses in the green color – I’ve never really shopped there, but just went through their most recent catalog this afternoon.

I love the orange and white dress, it looks like it would be perfect on you and fit the occassion so well! I can’t wait to see all of the details for Hudson’s party, I have no doubt it will be fantastic.

We’re still watching the DVD’s of GLEE, but I have all of the new episodes DVR-ed. I can’t wait to catch up soon so I can watch the Madonna episode! Hope you have a fun weekend in Atlanta!

Hi! I just wanted to say hello and that: 1) I love your blog, it’s beautiful! 2) I love your taste 3) THANK YOU for posting that link to watch the last clip from GLEE, because I was so sad I missed it, and Like A Prayer is my favorite Madonna song ever (I don’t know why I didn’t just look it up online, but sometimes these obvious things don’t occur to me) 4) Crystal Bowersox is my favorite too.

I have no idea how exactly I came to find your blog, but I’m glad I did!

I just found your blog and so glad I did!! I’m loving it! I’m a lover of Glee and the Madonna episode was epic. Like a Prayer is my favorite. Crystal Bowersox is my favorite girl, but you gotta love Lee DeWyze! 🙂 I also just cut my hair also.. and I already miss it.

Hope you had a great time in Atlanta!

We watched Glee for the first time last weekend and thought it was SOOO funny!!! I think green would look great on you and I love the idea of having a dress made!

  16. says

Ok I love Glee so much – why is Sue so darn funny?!!? And the ditzy cheerleader is my favorite – we call her the “manleader” because she has this interesting face that looks slightly manly . . . haha

anyways, I also love Crystal Bowersox – she rocks! And I cried a little when she cried . . .

  17. K says

If you decide to go for the green Maggy London dress, just fyi, it fit small on me and I had to size up.

I love both the Anthro choices though, and that’s coming from someone who hates wearing orange! 🙂
