We had a great weekend. Nothing particularly exciting happened, but we were just a little family running errands and getting things done. My doctor is allowing me to get out of the house more as long as I take it easy and don’t try to lift Hudson and his car seat by myself. I’m still a bit uninspired for posts because we’ve got so much going on, but I’ll just let you in on what’s going on at our house.

  • The new Sonic Cherry Limeade Chiller is delicious. If you love the original Cherry Limeade you’ll love this. I heard on Twitter last night that the Strawberry Limeade Chiller is equally delicious. I’ll check that out today.
  • I’m now addicted to two new TV shows– as if I had any room in my life for more television. Yesterday I watched Hung on HBO and Drop Dead Diva on Lifetime. Lots of fun– and obviously the return of good Sunday night television.
  • Todd and I (along with Hudson) joined Sam’s Club (and yes, Sam’s is supposed to have the apostrophe “s”) on Saturday. Love it. Can’t wait to go back. I just wish that I had endless amounts of storage so I could buy everything in bulk. The only downside is that they don’t carry the Pampers that we use– just the Pampers Swaddlers and Pampers Cruisers.
  • I finally replaced the horrible Blackberry Pearl that I’ve had for the past 20 months. Todd gave it to me for Valentine’s Day in 2008Β and it was great for one whole day. Since then I’ve struggled with it on a daily basis and was having to take the battery out to end a call because it wasn’t responding to the buttons. Ridiculous. So we just replaced it with a Blackberry Curve. RIP you horrible Blackberry Pearl.
  • Fiona got a ridiciulous haircut. Her hair had gotten so long and it’s so hot outside. Every time she would come in from outside she would smell horrible. I called the groomer and just asked them to cut her hair as short as possible without shaving her. She is a tiny little dog and only weighs 10 pounds or so, but all that hair gave her some volume. She looks like she lost half of her size to the groomer!

  • Hudson will be six weeks old on Friday. I can’t believe it. Is this supposed to be a magic age or is that eight weeks? He’s pretty great now, but any little secrets for more sleep would be great. He has been sleeping in his crib since the day we brought him home and I love that. I’ll write more about that process later– for those of you that are interested.

  • While Todd was playing golf yesterday and Hudson was sleeping in his swing, I attacked the pantry. I love to organize and I love to throw away crap that we don’t use. Our pantry is now beautiful and there’s a place for everything. I wonder how long it will stay that way.

I meant to watch Drop Dead Diva last night, but we were finishing up our latest home project (shelves in our rec room.) I totally forgot about it! Hudson and Fiona are both ridiculously cute! (Though, I do have to laugh when I see the shaved version of Fiona.)

Hudson is getting so big! What a sweet picture of you holding him!! You look beautiful as always!!

I just look at him and how small he looks and just cringe. Six weeks is when I have to go back to work and leave Jack…it seems so awful to do to him when he is going to be so little. I’m really struggling!

Your pantry looks GREAT! Want to come visit my kitchen?! I’ll cook for you while you organize me!! πŸ™‚

On a side note – did you have any acid reflux issues while you were pregnant. It is getting HORRIBLE!!

I watched Drop Dead Diva last night, I thought it was really good also! And I totally love Sam’s, especially when they are giving out all of those yummy samples! The pictures of Hudson are adorable!!

Look at that little smile on Hudson’s face! He is one precious little boy!

I feel ya on the pantry. It’s such a great feeling to clean out your pantry or closet. I attacked our linen closet a few months ago and did some serious work. Our pantry could really use it next!

Loved Drop Dead Diva, want to check out Hung(thomas jane…SO Cute!) Try and add just about an ounce more of formula at night and see if it helps get a longer stretch of sleep to try and establish a good pattern of sleep. This worked for us. It makes such a difference when your little one is not only sleeping longer at night, but also when it corresponds to when you also sleep…hope this helps! You’ll get your sleep back, pinky swear, and it will be glorious!

I had the same problem with my pearl! My parents’s loved Sam’s when my sister was a baby because they saved so much money on diapers. They actually liked the Sam’s Club brand the best for her.

A friend of mine has a baby about 4 weeks older than Kyah and she told me the trick of formula before bedtime. I was so anti formula, but I had to supplement b/c I had an infection.. I now give her one ounce of formula at bedtime after I nurse and let me just say, PRAISE JESUS! She slept last night from 12 – 5:30! It was absolutely wonderful! The past week she slept all week in 5 hour stretches, but in my book it said to wake them to feed at the 5 hour mark, I think she would have slept longer if I didn’t wake her.. I don’t know if that will help or not, but it has been just wonderful for us! πŸ™‚
I figure one ounce of formula won’t harm her! πŸ˜‰

Oh and I was just informed that Wal-Mart has now dropped the – and it is Walmart! πŸ™‚ haha! Just thought I would pass this new info onto ya!

How was Drop Dead Diva? The premise seems somewhat offensive (dumb skinny girl is reborn as smart fat girl is equal to torture now?) but I didnt see it first hand. If its funny, offensive doesn’t really matter πŸ™‚

I found your blog through my best friend Kate’s blog. I have a Hudson too. My Hudson will be 2 on Sunday. They grow up so fast. We found that the Pampers Baby Dry worked best for us. They go on sale at Walmart once a month and we stock up them. We found that at 3 months was a big turning point and at 6 months it was a lot easier! Your Hudson is adorable! Congrats on being a new mommy.

Brave woman offering up the sleeping baby secrets – can’t wait to see the inevitable commenters who say you’re somehow doing it wrong. πŸ˜‰

I enjoyed & agreed with your punctuation rant, by the way. “Sam’s” it is!

I just started following your blog through a friend!!! I’m super excited…you’re writing is amazing..I wanted to tell you we too buy diapers at Sam’s Club, and when baby Hudson is is size 3’s I highly recommend them..they are so much less bulky and clothes fit over them so much better, AND I have yet to have a leak!!! I would be more than happy to send you a few so you can try them when he is in them!

Oh I love this post!! I am going to go get a cherry limesde chiller now.. Ur tweet made me crave one even more!! We belong to Sam’s club and I’ve been meaning to get there.. I love the candy aisle there!
Fiona’s haircut is so funny.. Does she act different without all her hair!? One time they shaved Halley because she had matts and she acted like she was ashamed of her short do!! Hudson is just darling!! U have the most precious little fella.. U r so blessed! Also, u look amazing!!!
What was the name of the dvd/ book u recommend for me to watch and read?I think it had to do with schedules for the baby or sleeping.. Can’t remember!
Have a fab day my love!

After a longer trip to Cape Cod than expected, we’re finally home and settling in. We spent the weekend doing laundry, hanging out at the club, I ran my first 5K, my sweet husband went golfing, and we celebrated my dad’s 66th birthday. A busy weekend, but oh so much fun!!!:)

PS-I miss our membership to Sam’s…I may have to sign up again!;)

    Have a great evening!!!

We had a busy weekend preparing for the girls arrival…last minute errands, cleaning, etc. I’m happy to report they’re here and loving life (well not the heat + humidity part!) We spent last night catching up on their camp experiences and today Jordan went to her first child/infant cpr class while we played putt-putt with Natalie. Fun…but would have been more enjoyable had it not been crazy hot. Jordan heads to her 2nd day of class tomorrow and Natalie starts a sports camp where she’ll learn how to play tennis and golf. Ahh…to be 14 & 11 again.

I love the visual of the three of you running errands together as a family — so sweet!!

p.s. This probably won’t surprise you but our pantry looks quite similar to yours πŸ™‚

Our son was formula fed after he was a month old, so that helped some. He also liked to sleep more than some of my friend’s children from the get go. I think that 10 weeks to 3 months was the turning point for us. That is when Mac started sleeping from 8 pm – 10 pm, a final feeding and then 11 pm – 6 am. This was great for me, because I went back to work after 3 months. Then around 6 months he dropped the 10 pm feeding. We used the Baby Whisperer book. I loved it. Healthy Sleep Habits is another great book.

My daughter is now 2 months, almost 10 weeks. She has been sleeping through the night for about 4 or 5 weeks (a 12 hour span). I am a huge schedule person. What I have found to be effective is to have a period in the morning (2 hours if possible, or more if the baby is up a lot) and than another 2 hour period at night. You may need to add another 2 hour period somewhere. It is like reverse napping for newborns. I also tryto give her a bottle between 9 and 10pm. If your breastfeeding some of this will be more difficult. Also ask your pediatrician about a little bit of cereal at night. AL’s doctor told us she could have it at 4 weeks. We don’t give it to her but it worked well for my 3 year old. I hope this might help you. Good luck!

I started reading you blog when I was planning our wedding a year ago. I also just had a baby and would love to read more about Hudson’s sleeping.

  22. says

    Hey there,
I don’t know if you’ve read Baby Wise or Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, but those books has been a lifesaver for our family. Basically its about EASY E-eat A-awake S-sleep Y-your time…making sure the baby doesn’t learn to fall asleep at the breast / bottle and without props such as rocking *though I looove to rock my babies! or driving them around, etc. I love a schedule and these books support that. Both of my boys were sleeping 12 hours straight between 10-12 weeks w/ no crying at bedtime. It was so wonderful! We had challenges (and still do) with teething or sickness, but otherwise, both of them are excellent sleepers. Hope this helps! Hudson is adorable!!!!!!
