I’d like to introduce all of you to my anniversary present:
Isn’t it beautiful? My husband is too good to me! Very similar to my reaction to my new handbag, I haven’t worn it yet because I’m afraid to. I also haven’t had it fitted yet, so I don’t want the extra linkage to be clanking around on my desk all day.
You all should know some background on my timepiece collection, though.
Back in the eighth grade, I begged my parents for a Swiss Army watch. I saw it at a store and absolutely loved it. It was around Christmastime and my dad kept telling me, “Erin, you’re not old enough or responsible enough to have a nice watch like that.”
I had one present under the tree that Christmas and it was my Swiss Army watch!
Even now, when I see pictures of this watch I love it. I have worn that watch every day (except when the battery is dead and I’m too lazy to get it replaced) since the eighth grade. Christmas of 1995 until today!
I’m not trying to prove that I “deserved” a new watch, but I am quite proud of myself for being “responsible enough” to have a nice watch like that for so many years.
What a sweet husband you have! The watch is beautiful. I think that it is very impressive that you have had the Swiss watch for that long, there certainly is something about treasuring your nice things. I received my first David Yurman at 16 and have had it for 10 years now. I certainly think that it’s time for a new piece in my collection! 🙂

I have the exact same watch! I bought it the summer before Junior year of college (4 years ago) when I was working at Nordstrom (so I got 20% off)… I wans’t sure if I could justify spending that much money on a watch for myself, since it was more than an entire paycheck, but I’m so glad I did. I have worn it every day since then and have certainly gotten my money’s worth!
I have no amassed quite a collection of bands for it too, although I pretty much always wear the silver metal band like the one you got.

I’m feeling so old! Back when I was in the 8th grade, it was SWATCH watches that were all the rage! Those were around $30 at that time, which seemed like a TON of money! I give you props for having such good (timeless)taste, even at age 13!

I’m not sure what’s more incredible…that you’ve worn the same watch since the eighth grade or that you were in the eighth grade in 1995! That’s the year I graduated from college!! I did take a year off during my college education but still, that just shows me, yet again, how much older I am than you 🙂

Love it! I got a Movado from my husband as wedding present. I wear it every day. A watch is such a good present!

Nice watch! I really like it!! I’ve had the same watch since Christmas of 1997 and if you know me that’s huge!! I can be a bit destructive.. =) Maybe it’s time for an upgrade…

This is so funny to me, because I was dying for a Swiss Army watch when I was 14! I got it for Christmas that year as well!! And, now I would LOVE my very own Michele. Maybe one day…! Congratulations on that fabulous present!

oh i love it… i was scared when i finally bought myself a ‘big girl’ watch, I completely understand. I’ve always lost jewelry, but I’m happy to report since marrying the mr. I haven’t lost anything… i think i might finally be grown up.
