Last Saturday, Fiona sat down beside me so I could talk to her about the baby. Boudreaux has been very aware that something is different and he often comes around to sniff my baby bump. Can dogs smell babies? Anyway, Fiona seems to want to refuse to believe that things are going to be a little different in June.

I keep telling both dogs that they need to be my helpers and set good examples for the baby when it comes to crying, playing nice, and potty training.
On another note, this week has been really rough on me as far as sleep goes. I’m just not falling asleep until 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. I will lie in the bed and just wait to fall asleep. I think a lot of it is because I’m worried about the many projects and events I have going on at work, but the rest is just the general aches and pains that have come along with the pregnancy. Neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain. I fall into the deepest sleep right around 5:00 a.m. and then I know it’s too late. It’s just a shame I have somewhere to be every morning, otherwise I’d be sleeping until I can’t sleep anymore.
Here’s how I feel about not getting any sleep!

ETA: I was totally aware that my white shirt was so see-through that you could see the big “secret fit” waste sitting way up on my waste through the shirt. It does look a bit ridiculous, though!
Hang in there, my friend! I recommend taking power naps if you are able to. (Even if you doze in your car for 15 minutes at lunch) Hopefully when the baby comes he will be one that likes to sleep through the night, but if he’s anything like my son was then you’ll need to get in the habit of napping at every possible moment. I hope you get some rest this weekend!
Oh you are an incredibly cute pregnant lady even if the baby fit is showing!
I think dogs can totally sense it. One of the moms of one of my patients at work said that her female dog started lactating when she (the mom) got to her third month of pregnancy! They were freaking out thinking that the dog had somehow gotten pregnant…but the vet said that nope, she wasn’t pregnant…just sensed that the mom was!
And then the night before she went into labor her 3 dogs (who normally sleep quietly on the floor by her bed) were pacing and running around the house all night! Crazy, huh?
such a cute pregnant lady, you are!
How cute! I hope they behave for you! 🙂
You’re such a cute pregnant lady!! I’m sorry ’bout the lack of sleep.. I would be a monster!!
I love that you had a discussion with your dogs.. so cute.
Your pups are precious 🙂 I’m sure they’ll be great siblings 🙂 Happy Friday!
p.s. — Hope your sleep improves! I know how much I love my sleep and I’m not pregnant!
You look so cute here!!
Our dogs always know when something’s going on too. It’s really neat how they can sense things like that. Have a great weekend!
I looove the secret fit! 🙂 And I love the name Fiona for your dog.
Bummer about not getting any sleep! Maybe you can catch up this weekend?
Have a great weekend!
You are such a cute pregnant lady! Seriously!! I love that you had to have a talk with Fiona–and the picture of you two is precious. Hope the sleep cycle gets better!
That picture of you and Fiona is precious and the one of you with the pouty lip is priceless 🙂
I hope your sleep situation gets better and wish I had some suggestions to offer. Unfortunately, given I’ve never been pregnant I don’t have any nuggets of info to give. If I hear of any though I promise to pass them along.
Happy Friday, my friend!
You are such a cute pregnant lady!! I hope your sleep situation gets better. Maybe you can catch up on sleep this weekend:)
What a cute pic of you and Fiona! I was asking my "real life friend" Magnolias, Marriage & Manhattan how her dog reacted to the baby and she has been so cute with him. I know your dogs will love BBC.
As for sleep, oh have I been there. During event season at work, I don't sleep at all because my mind can never shut down. (and having my blackberry next to my bed is probably not the best idea) Get lots of rest when you can for both you and the baby! xox
Such a cute pic of you and Fiona!!
I know they can sense it! Our little Macy Belle would snuggle in my lap and lay her head on my belly throughout most of the second half of my pregnancy. 🙂 She definitely knew something was up whenever we practiced putting a stuffed frog in the carseat a few weeks before he was born! 🙂
You look so stinkin’ cute! 🙂 I hope you can get some rest this weekend…and not worry or think about work! I did the same thing and had to go on bedrest the last 4 weeks because my bp was getting high. Take care and have a great weekend!! 🙂
the picture of you and your puppy is so cute. i’m a little nervous about how my dog will react when we have a baby. she is an only child kind of dog!
oh, PS – I’m meeting with your mom on Monday about candy buffets!
I really dont understand why all of the maternity pants have black or navy (or even patterened) panels — it makes no sense. I think they all should be nude colored. I have also been giving Steve the cat some pep talks about the baby… I think he can understand me. 🙂 ha ha
You are so cute!!!
Such a cute pic of you and Fiona…you know what I love the most?? The sunshine!!
Have a great weekend!
What a bummer.. I am so sorry you aren’t falling asleep. I am right there with ya on all of the pains. I seriously thought I would be that cute lil pregnant lady prancing around in my heels… My back throbs with just flats! It will be so worth it, but man this ride is tough! 🙂 You look great! I love the talk you had with Fiona! And I do think the dogs sense something, my belly has become a magnet to both of my boys… sniffing and cuddling up to my belly is their new fave thing!
Cute photos!
Awe, I’m so sorry that you haven’t been sleeping! Maybe you can catch up on sleep a bit this weekend! I LOVE the picture of you and Fiona chatting 😉
you are too stinking cute:) I love this post.. I am really worried about our maltese…. halley… Im not worried about our golden tho! I know she will be great! Hope you start getting better rest… I have no sleep to look forward too:) Very very precious post;) gosh your cute!
bless your heart……..i hope that you have a restful weekend!
and know that you look 800 times better than i do when i’m not sleeping!
Now…I wonder if anything is ridiculous if you are pregnant? I think that you are rockin’ it!
cute pictures! haha i hope the jeans are comfy 🙂
What a cute pic! Hope you can get some sleep soon!!
Dogs TOTALLY sense it. My coworker has a dog that USED to bark at me, now her Maltese LOVES me. Oh the pregnancy pains…. only a few more months and we’ll meet our little ones! -La.
I’ve never thought about dogs sensing it, but I bet they can!!! They have awesome snouts!
Your belly is so fun!
I think your pups are in for a big surprise!! Your belly is too cute…
Hahhaha….you make me laugh girlfriend. That last picture is cute 🙂 I did my first round of browsing through the maternity section at Gap and I couldn’t bring myself to buy those pants yet – and um they are expensive!
As for your lack of sleeping – I’m so so sorry – I know that its so crucial to get a good nights rest right now. 🙁
I love the look on Fiona’s face in the picture–she looks like she totally understands the talk! Too cute!
That dog chat picture is so precious! You’re the best fur baby mom… I’m sure they’ll adjust really well!
xoxo,
Lulu
I LOVE that picture of you and Fiona! It’s too cute! Hope you can get some restful sleep this weekend!
Oh my goodness. that picture with you and fiona is a FRAMER…seriously amazing!!! You look fantastic (even if you don’t think you do).
I’m sorry your sleep habits have been off…hopefully it will get better soon!
I feel your pain. I had a very easy pregnancy, but I still remember the aches and pains. Getting comfortable in bed was next to impossible. My favorite part was trying to get out of bed. I felt like a beached whale.
bless your heart! I am sorry you have had aches and pains!! i hope all that goes away and you can get some good rest soon dear!!
you look precious 🙂
What a cute cute picture of you and your Fiona!!! What an expressive little face!
I too am hopeful that my dogs will set good (or at least not “bad”)examples for our little one when we decide to have one. We’re worried that our dogs are going to be so jealous!
