some lighter thoughts

After this morning’s heavy post I decided that I needed to put something a little more fun out there.

But first I’d like to give you one lesson in Blog 101. (My friend, Nina, coined this phrase today and I am just borrowing it from her. She’ll be teaching the full class soon.)
  • We are not always going to agree with each other in the Blogosphere. What I write on my blog is my personal opinion, and this world that we live in is interesting and fun because of differing opinions. I do not force my beliefs down anyone’s throat because you have to come to me to read what I believe. I will never come to your blog to give you my opinion, but you know that you can always find it right here.

Okay, on to the fun!

I want to introduce all of you to my new bed partner, the Boppy Total Body Pillow! It’s comfy, provides a place for my growing tummy, and is really nice support for my lower back. One of the best things is that I can take the cover off and wash it because we all know it’s already covered in Boudreaux hair.

Pregnant bloggers, how do you get comfortable when you sleep? Mommy bloggers, what worked for you? Non-pregnant and non-mommy bloggers, tell me something interesting anyway!

I have been wondering how well this works! I’m 26 weeks and I’ve been sleeping with a regular pillow between my legs but I am quickly outgrowing it! One tip is I try to keep extra pillows behind my head incase I want to sleep propped up on my back as I found my legs were becoming cramped a lot on my side. Good luck! I am loving all the prego bloggers out there right now- so many good tips:)

I’m definitely not pregnant, but definitely want one of those pillows! Would that be wrong?! Looks comfy!

I am cracking up right now just thinking about you sleeping with that, but if it makes your pregnant belly feel better then that is all that matters.

  4. Good Gals Inc says

I always wanted to know how comfortable sleeping was to pregnant women! I know whenever I have children I will be going nuts because I always sleep on my stomach! So thanks for sharing this option! (Won’t be for another 10 years).

  5. The Heckathorns says

OMG, this thing is a life-saver! It sucks when all the weight starts to shift to one side b/c of all the weight in the middle! This is one of the best inventions EVER for a pregnant woman. (even though the hubs would steal it every now and then.) I’ve been through three pregnancies and I didn’t have this until the last pregnancy! I had to always prop myself with 3-4 pillows to get myself comfortable! (especially in the later months)

I’ve never been pregnant, but I’ve heard that these are amazing! Especially for tummy sleepers (like me)! 🙂

  7. Bama Belle... says

My sis is 9 months pregnant and has 2 of these pillows and LOVES them. One pillow “lives” at my parents house in Bama and one is up here in NYC. Yes, it looks funny and I was the first one to laugh at my sis but hey, it’s comfy and that’s what counts right now.

Also, I just read your post below and honestly could not agree with you more or have said it better.

My sister has been using a body pillow for YEARS — I’ll have to turn her onto this one! Very cool!

Honey- I hate to break it to you- but as a Mother of 3 I can tell you, you won’t get a good night sleep again for at least 18 years! 🙂

  10. Ruby Slippers says

That pillow is the cutest! Question, though: Do you have to lie with your one arm underneath it all the time? Doesn’t it get numb or sore?

  11. SassyEngineer says

Hmm – something interesting since I’m not a mom or pregnant; did you know the human head weighs approximately 8 pounds? (Did you ever see Jerry Maguire?) I know, I’m such a nerd!

  12. Rachel says

Body pillows rock!! That is the only thing that kept me sane through the first 2 and it reminds me to bust it out NOW!!

BTW – Loved your first statement, very well said and respectable!

  13. Suzette says

I am going to have to get one of these. Right now I’m using a hot dog bun pillow, it’s great, but it doesn’t give me any support on my legs. I am trying to use the “bun” pillow and I sometimes prop my leg up on a pillow where I can semi lay on my stomach, I am really having a hard time breaking this habit! It is only going to get more difficult from here on out..

Loved you post below!! And I hope you will keep saying whatever comes into your very pretty and wise head!!
    COngratulations on your pregnancy!!

  15. Kate says

I’m neither preggers nor a mommy BUT I hear from reliable best friend sources that the Boppy Pillow is sheer awesomeness!

  16. Mrs. Stilettos says

You and Nina put it perfectly. Its a shame though that you have to remind people of that – isn’t that the idea of blogging?

Thank you for passing this great idea to us! It looks comfy whether your pregnant or not! 🙂

  17. Sarah says

I’m not a mom but I have a friend who has one and she curls it all the way around her belly so she can sleep on her stomach

  18. sassytimes says

Oooh…that looks niiice! When I was pregnant, I was so afraid to sleep on my back, so I switched from side to side with a pillow between my legs to relieve some of the pressure off my lower back. In the last month, I barely slept because my belly was so heavy. I don’t think much can help in that last month, so enjoy the sleep now! 😉

  19. Mandy Rose says

Ummmm I could never use the pregnancy pillow. I did find the body pillow useful though!! Whatever works! Trial and error!! 🙂

  20. SC Crew says

So you know I’m not a mommy or pregnant, but with a pillow that size…does Todd get jealous??

    Just kidding! 🙂

One of my best friends, Caycee (Hanging with the Hewitts) is pregnant (and will be induced on the 26th if Carson has not come before then!!) and LOVED her boppy pillow. At first it took her some time to get used to but then she got to where she couldn’t go without it!

  22. Tara Gibson says

that looks so comfty! I cant imagine how uncomfortable it would be to try to sleep with a preggo bellly! But that looks awesome!

  23. Jennifer says

I became addicted to my body pillow. It saw me through 3 pregnancies and I reluctantly had to finally throw it out just recently. The first baby I used it for is now 7. I never bought a new one but we have king size pillows on our bed and they suffice. You will find this to be a night time, nap time, louge time, any time, life saver.
    Happy incubating!!
    Jennifer

Oh my goodness! I didn't even know this thing existed! But, I am PUMPED about going to get one. I've been using a regular old body pillow, which helps, but hasn't QUITE been doin the trick lately.

Thank you times a million for saving me a few months of back pain, insomnia, & grouchiness! 🙂 I'm sure my husband thanks you as well!

  25. teamkc says

I found your blog somehow…and I love it! I used that exact same pillow from about the 6 month on…it saved me! Good luck! Babies are so fun!

  26. Mama SeWELL says

Found your blog tonight reading, and the Snoogle rocks! I had one when I was pregnant with my son, and it was the single most important item for me…besides the tums of course! I know you must be sleeping better with it. Towards the end when I was ginormous there was no way I could sleep w/o it.
Wishing you peaceful & comfy zzzzz's, and a smooth delivery!
    Congrats!
