a busy weekend

I’m so excited for another long weekend! I plan to spend the weekend away from my television and away from all the inauguration hype. At some point, though, I’m going to have to take down our Christmas decorations. I’ve been away from home every weekend since Christmas and every time I pass our Christmas tree I just have to try to ignore it. I did take some decent pictures of the tree with my Canon Rebel, so I’m going to have to put some of them on the blog before the tree comes down. Am I the only one that made it to January 16 with a Christmas tree still up?

Over the course of this long weekend, Todd and I will see the following movies. We’ve got four nights to do it and I’m determined!

Okay, so maybe Todd won’t agree to Bride Wars, but I’ll see it without him.

One of my favorite mommy mentors offered to take me to Babies “R” Us this weekend to show me the ropes. I have no intentions of registering for a thing until I know if we’re having a boy or a girl. I am just so excited that somebody is going to take me to that superstore and help me so I don’t get too lost. I’ve never even set foot in a Babies “R” Us, so I’m sure there would be plenty of things that I’d be unsure of.

How do all of you plan on spending the long weekend? Any big plans?

I so glad you are going with a Mommy mentor to Babies R Us! That place can definitely be overwhelming. I really want to go see Bride Wars! I have heard all good things about it. We will probably just be relaxing and taking it easy this weekend, but I do have some homework already. Yuck! Didn’t mean to ramble! Have a great time this weekend!!

Unfortunately it’s not a long weekend for us (Lee will be working Saturday + Monday) but we do plan on seeing Gran Torino tomorrow before he goes in. It’s been on his list for awhile now and I’ve heard it’s good so we’re trying to squeeze that in. I’d love to see Bride Wars but think I’ll have to save that for a time when I’m alone or can round up a friend (this is another time I wish we lived closer to each other!)

The rest of the weekend will be spent cleaning the house. While our tree has been down since Jan. 1 (we get a real tree), I just yesterday finished getting all the decorations wrapped and back in their storage bins. Sunday includes football playoffs and I’m pretty sure there’s a UNC basketball game in there somewhere.

Hope you have a FANTASTIC weekend and I can’t wait to see your tree photos and hear ALL about that great list of movies!

    Benjamin Button was incredibleeee.

I’m seeing Bride Wars this weekend. We’ll see how it goes. Then again who can put down a chick flick? 🙂

  5. Mrs. Jetplane says

I loved Benjamin Button. I want to read the Reader before I go see it. I heard its great. I also want to read Revolutionary Rd before I go see it too. I’m a big “reader” before I see it, even though I’m usually let down by the movie, I don’t care.

    Enjoy your weekend.

And i went to Babies “R” Us a few weeks ago to pick up a gift for a friend for my first ever baby shower and boy was it an experience for me! I am glad someone will be there to show you the ropes!!!

  8. Newlywed Next Door says

I want to see a bunch of those movies — my husband really wants to see Gran Torino (Bride Wars? Not so much). Have fun at babies R Us, try not to get overwhelmed (that store overwhelms me).

  9. GrannySmithGreen says

Have a fun time at BRU. It is overwhelming at first. You’ll be surprised at how many trips you’ll actually make there! Best of luck!

  10. Mrs. Stilettos says

How nice of her!! That is going to be so much easier for you to have a coach in that store! Its so overwhelming!!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend! TGIF!

  11. Sarah says

  12. Kelly says

I did the same thing with two of my friends when I was Preggers! It helped SO much! Seeing as I had never held a baby much less changed a diaper at that time!

  13. Sassy and Classy Southern Mrs. says

I saw Bride Wars last night and it was great! I laughed and cried! I want to see the rest of those movies too!

  14. A Belle and her Beau says

  17. My home - My life says

I want to see Bride Wars SO bad – looks really cute. I however, do NOT have a long weekend but wish I did. Have fun and enjoy the extra day off!

  18. Sweet Carolina Bride says

Have fun during the “movie weekend!” My husband and I are going to see Gran Torino tonight! To note – Benjamin Button is extremely long and wasn’t as good as the “hype” leading up to it though Brad Pitt was wonderful.

  19. SouthernAccent says

Sounds like a fun weekend! I love movies and want to see all of those too! Probably going to have to wait until DVD. One thing that’s hard to do once you have kiddies is go to the movies!
Glad you’re taking someone with you to BRU – that’s smart and I always tell people to do that. I’ve been with a couple of my friends lately that are having their first to tell them what they really need and what is just crap that is going to take up space and cost you money you could use somewhere else.

  20. Tracy's Porch says

When I was pregnant, my SIL took me to BRU to show me things that were helpful or a waste of money. It was so nice to have someone help. Since having Ashley, I have done the same things with my friends that are preggo for the first time.

It is very exciting – HAVE FUN!!!

  21. Brown Eyed Girl says

What a fun weekend! Me and the Beau are seeing Grand Torino tonight after a fabulous dinner! I love date nights!! Have fun in Babys R Us!! That’s great that you are going to have some help 🙂

  22. Rachel says

No – I am embarrased to say that we are still taking decor down, preggos like us have an excuse though =)! Good thing you have a mentor, it is very overwhelming!!

We are seeing Bride Wars tonight! Enjoy your weekend!!

  23. Hannah Noel says

Curious Case and Bride wars are AWESOME!! Loved them.
And I’m dying to see The Reader (and Revolutionary Road).

I have to work tonight, but tomorrow I’m going with my sister (MOH) and mom to go check out flowers for the wedding! woo hoo!

  24. The wife says

Thank goodness, I’m finally going to have a mini spa day tomorrow. Sunday I’m going to the launch party for Southern Weddings–was hoping to see you there and introduce myself. I would love to know who your florist was for your wedding. It wasn’t Greg Foster by any chance was it?

  25. Practically Perfect... says

I am SO glad that I’m not the only one whose Christmas tree is still up 🙂 With our vacation, we’ve had no time to do anything around the house. I’m planning to tackle the cleaning and “un-decorating” tomorrow, and I’ve already wrangled a promise out of Chris that he will help 🙂

    Have fun seeing the movies!

I love the baby bump addition! I'm hoping to see Bride Wars too this weekend.
Good luck at Babies R Us this weekend – I'm sure that could be overwhelming but fun. (oh, and my pregnant sis just found out that buybuybaby takes bed bath & beyond coupons! who knew?)
