it was a very merry Christmas!

I’ve been gone a while, but I have very good reason! My parents, brother, and their dog Beaux arrived on December 23 and I didn’t read or write a blog the entire time they were here. They left yesterday and, as usual, the goodbye was tearful.

We had a great Christmas at our house. We went to church on Christmas Eve with my family and Todd’s family and then we all came back to our house to eat gumbo. On Christmas morning we woke up and ate breakfast and then opened presents. My family decided to draw names this year so we could all save some money and it was great. My parents and Todd’s parents gave us a new hutch for our dining room. My mom got my name and gave me lots of scarves and a beautiful silver tray for my dining table.

Todd gave me the Canon Rebel. I can’t wait to figure out how to use it and get ready to take lots of gorgeous photos of our new addition that will arrive in June.

He also gave me the Sonya Renee necklace I’ve been wanting, some comfy boots, and DVDs.

I gave Todd lots of lawn equipment, some jeans, and the new Gamecock football vault. My brother drew Todd’s name and Todd got loaded up with clothes and socks.

We went to see Marley and Me the day after Christmas and I’m not sure I’ve ever cried so hard in a movie in my life. The only other time I’ve cried that hard over a story was when I read the book. But I was crying and had to take a couple of those big deep, choking breaths. Great movie. I’m sure I’ll watch it every time I see it on TV. There is nothing like the unconditional love that you get from your dog.

I’m glad you had a merry Christmas! We got matching Christmas gifts- don’t you just love the camera! Even though I don’t know how half of the features work- it is fun to play with- enjoy!

Good to hear your Christmas was a merry one! Enjoy your new toy and be sure to post lots of great pics!

I'm a big chicken about watching dog movies…they always make me cry so I don't normally watch them. I'll have to wait until Marley & Me comes out on DVD so I can blubber in private. I would definitely disturb my neighbors in the theatre!

    Happy New Year to you!

I’m 16 weeks prego and read your blog from time to time, we also saw Marley and Me and my husband and I both cried sooooo hard. I don’t think I have ever cried that hard in the movies. We are also the proud owners of a yellow lab so it defiantly hit close to home!

I have been dying to see Marley and ME! My parents said I should wait to see it when I’m not pregnant so I don’t cry quiet as hard.. haha.. I am thinking I’ll just have to take a box of tissues and go anyway! 🙂

I can’t wait to hear about your next appt! My Doctor said he would have the u/s done the week after the 15th! That placenta better not be in the way! haha..

Love the new camera! We have been peaking at them everytime we’re out and about! I think it’s a very well spent investment!

I got the Canon Rebel for Christmas from my husband as well!! You will absolutely love it. I am still trying to figure out all the features but it’ll come quick. We don’t have kids yet, but I figure we might as well get it now so we have it when we do. I would suggest getting the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II Camera Lens..it’s great for taking portrait pictures of your little one when it comes along. And it’s not badly priced either
    Have fun!

OMG! I saw Marley and Me too and I was balling in the theater!! I looked around and there wasn’t a dry eye anywhere. I expected it to be another stupid dog movie but it was SO GOOD. Congrats on your Digital SLR. I love mine, you’ll love yours!

We saw Marley & Me yesterday and I sobbed as well! Great movie but I'm wishing I'd thought ahead and brought a handful of tissue in with me!!

Your Christmas sounds fantastic and I'm thrilled beyond belief for you that you got your new camera!! I know how badly you were wanting one.

I, too, cried when I left my family and now I have it in my head that we need to move to CA. I'm not sure what we'll do but my nephew is growing up so fast (he's 13) and I can't fathom missing out on anymore than I have to.

    Happy New Year!

I’ll mos def bring with me in April and we can teach each other what we have self-taught ourselves hah! Can’t wait!!! I’m sooo glad you’re back. I was overjoyed to see your name in my Reader this morning.

I read Marley and Me when it first came out and cried my eyes out after i finished it. My parents 14 y.o yellow lab passed away the week before christmas so I cant bring myself to go see it. It will just hit too close to home. It looks really funny though! I’m glad you found me and look forward to following your journey into parenthood! It is the best experience ever!

Sounds like an absolutely wonderful Christmas (with some wonderful gifts!) I can't wait to see Marley & Me, and when my family left my house after Christmas, there were, of course, many tears shed.
