My husband ran out a few minutes ago to grab supper. Right after he left I got a picture text message from him and the subject said “something to blog about.”
So while I have a serious case of OCD, my one contradicting habit is that I don’t replace the toilet paper roll. In fact, I leave the cardboard on the holder! {I’m blushing with shame as I type this!}
We try to keep multiple rolls in each bathroom so it’s easy to replace the roll, but when replacement rolls aren’t around, it takes me a while to get to it. This drives my husband crazy!
I wonder if it drives him as crazy as I was when I found out that he had not yet made our hotel reservation at a random Hampton Inn between Columbia and DC for tomorrow night. We’re driving to my cousin’s wedding in DC this weekend, but we can’t leave until I finish with my last event for the day, at 6:00 p.m. We decided not to drive all the way tomorrow night and to go just past Richmond so we don’t have to pay big city hotel rates. We’re staying at the Ritz in DC the night of the wedding. This afternoon my sweet husband finally made our hotel reservations for tomorrow night! “Procrastination” is his middle name.
And “impatient” is mine.
Which of your significant other’s habits drive you crazy?
just found your blog today! my fiancee did the same exact thing to me! stupid picture message. i hate it when i get caught doing the wrong thing and can’t even talk my way out of it!
oh girl, let me just talk to you about this. The beau thinks it is insane that I will drop 100 dollars on a shirt without blinking an eye. Well when we go back to college town for football games or any event where there are “old friends” the Beau doesn’t blink an eye at dropping a 100 bucks on a bar tab … drinks on him for anyone we have EVER known. At least the money I spend can be shown in my house or in my closet … his money is spent on “memories”. Like I said, money is ALWAYS the issue 🙂
Wait, I can only pick ONE thing? No way, not possible! 🙂
ok seriously are you reading my mind! I literally laughed out loud about the toilet paper because I DO THE EXACT SAME THING HAHAHAHA. Mr. Mojito gets so irritated with me!
I really think Mr. Guru does not know how to replace a toilet paper roll. drives me crazy and it can only roll one way or I freak!
Great post – ummm . . . how about putting dishes in the dishwasher? We had a heart to heart 🙂
Wish I had known you were headed this way – you could have stayed with us!
I am laughing because it drives me CRAZY that my hubby can not change out the toilet paper roll! I thought it was a man thing but you and a few others have proved me wrong 🙂
I would say…Leaving all of his clothes (dirty & clean) scattered around the house…HELLO that is what a hamper is for! ha ha.
We are so the same person…right down to the cardboard on the holder, impatience, and husbands who like to procrastinate!
Have fun at the wedding!!
Must be the day for finding your blog, me too! Great blog, by the way! My hubby is too soft and lets people take advantage of him. It’s why I fell in love with him (so kind) but also drives me crazy when I know he should just say NO!
Try being married to a philosophy professor – a man who evaluates and forms logical arguments for a living! Something he does that bugs me is when we're in the midst of a "discussion" & he'll tell me that what I'm saying "doesn't follow", is "logically impossible", "a perfect example of a classic Straw-Man argument", or other such philosophical nonsense! I call it his philosospeak 🙂
J is a procrastinator, too. His friends call him Slo-berg (a play on his last name). I have to admit I am a nag… mostly because of his procrastination. 🙂
I have a TP holder in the bathroom that looks similar to a fancy toilet brush holder. It holds 3 extra rolls of TP, so guests never have to search for it!
Oooh, the DC Ritz! Have fun!
My number #1 husband lovely habit is his using the hand towel in our bathroom as a face towel. Totally gross, right? A close second is leaving dirty dishes in the sink, because he believes the Magic Dish Fairy is going to put them in the dishwasher. Because, you know, it would take an extra two seconds to do this himself. Fun!
What a great post, fun to read all of the things that drive us crazy, I’m sure the husbands could come up with a lenghthy list too! When we first got married my husband would use my good kitchen knives (Wustoff, Hinkels) in the GARAGE, on cardboard! Drove me crazy…think I’ve broken that habit 🙂
Husbands… they are quite interesting 🙂 That picture is hilarious! We have both learned to say sorry a lot about many things 🙂 He loves leaving things out on the counter. I am sure I do things wrong but I can’t recall right now (haha)
The Ritz is so nice! If you need any restaurant recs for the weekend just let me know 🙂
I’m so with you on the procrastination vs. impatient tendencies. I’m always trying to get things done NOW and am working on being better about waiting. Now, if I could only get fiance to move along more quickly we could meet in the middle and all would be well!
