call me grace

A couple of days ago I was at my doctor’s appointment. It was one of those appointments that is supposed to start at 10:15, but you get to leave the waiting room around 10:30. Then you go to the lab and take care of the blood work and everything else there. By the time you leave the lab it’s 11:00. You go to another waiting area and read some of your favorite blogs on your Blackberry while you wait. A woman comes in around 11:20 to escort you to your room and tells you to get changed. Then you just lie there in silence in a horrid robe and wait. For twenty more minutes.

The doctor comes in and the first thing she says is, “Wow! You have a huge bruise on your shin. And… oh my! You have another huge bruise and gash on your knee cap!” Yes, that’s the first thing she said to me after more than an hour of waiting to see her.

Rewind about 4 days.

It was a really busy day. We had an important guest in town and we had a couple of events going on that day. I was frantic. My fantastic coworker and I decided to walk to grab a quick lunch. We had just left our building and were about to cross one of the busiest streets in town. We walked up about four steps and my super high heel of my left pump got caught in the cuff of my right pant leg. I toppled over. I slammed my right knee cap into the ground and my left shin hit the corner of the step. A couple of people saw me, of course.

I popped up and immediately checked to see if my new pants had a hole in them and then checked to see if I was bleeding. No blood. No holes. Just a swolen knee cap. We walked on to lunch, sat down, and ate. On the walk back, I noticed that I was in excruciating pain and spent a good part of the rest of the day with my leg propped up and iced until the event started.

If it’s an important day and important events are going on, I’m going to fall. I think I start thinking too fast and forget to put one foot in front of the other. I am definitely my mother’s child. Except she locks her keys in her car quite often and I don’t ever do that. (knock on wood)

I fell down two days before the wedding. I tumbled down the stairs about a week before the wedding. Boudreaux chased a squirrel down a hill, pulling me flat on my face and causing me to sprain my ankle on the day of a very important event.

I think I can dance well. At least I’ve got rhythm and I’ve always been able to learn choreographed dances quickly. I’ve got decent coordination. I just can’t walk.

ETA: Three events today. Just slammed my finger in my drawer. It’s blue and swollen.

Yet another similarity. While I don’t necessarily fall that often, I’m extremely klutzy and am quite prone to walking into doorway frames and walls. I end up with bruises but can never remember where they came from!

That sounds so painful! I fell yesterday at work, but luckily only 3 other teachers were there and no students. I hate being so clumsy! =)
    At least you can dance… I can’t dance or walk ! =)

You poor thing. I “had” these pair of great big cuff dress pants from Banana Republic, I almost fell down my apt stairs atleast 5 times, my heels would always get caught in the cuff. Then the last time I ripped the cuff of my pants with my heel and I gave up on my very cute pants… They were a hazard.

I’m right there with ya! I’m terrible about food too….Country always says “that’s my baby. ate half of it, wearing the other half!” I fall, trip, run into things…And ONLY when I’m with him. I’m fine any other time…I try to be so ladylike and end up with something down the front of my shirt and a bruise.

that is TOTALLY me. Took ballet from the age of 3 and danced through high school and college, yet I run into pretty much every corner of every table/wall/filing cabinet/chair. ugh. I’m always covered in bruises…glad to know I’m not the only one 🙂

I ALWAYS manage to get my heel stuck on my pant cuffs…. Since most of my work pants have cuffs and I usually wear heels, this is a constant for me. I think that when pants have big cuffs on them, they need to be sewn down… I have even bit in the hallway at work in front of everyone – more than once.

The first time I saw my doctor post marriage he asked a TON of questions and asked all sorts of questions about Casey and how we were doing because I always have so many bruises from being such a klutz!
