Like my friend, Cyndi of Southern Daze, I am getting a tease of fall weather today. It started off muggy and 85 degrees this morning, then it rained. Now it is in the 70s and cloudy outside. I was shivering in my office this afternoon, but not complaining. I will never complain that I’m too cold. Fall is almost here! It’ll warm up again a few times, I’m sure, but I’m so excited to have it so close.
I spent some of the day on Sunday cleaning out my closet. I do this every time the seasons change. I can’t stand clutter and I can’t stand seeing things that just take up space. Todd and I share a closet and it’s not huge, by any means. We have enough space, but we’ve had to get creative, and he keeps all of his coats in one of the downstairs bedroom closets. I decided that it was time to purge. I cleaned out three huge black yard-size trash bags full of clothes. I even convinced Todd to come give it a try. He had tons of old law firm polos and fleece jackets (with the law firm logo on them) that still had tags on them.
I feel so refreshed getting rid of this stuff! So refreshed that I want to go shopping to fill my closet back up! Just kidding, Todd.
Does anyone else get a kick out of purging everything once or twice a year like I do?

I love doing that! My friend at work is the same size as me, so I always bring in all of my clothes and shoes before I take them to donate. Usually, she ends up with a bag and then offers to drop the rest off on her way home. This time, I’ve decided to put some of the pricier items (like my JCrew coat) on Ebay.
yes! yes! yes! we did it a few weekends ago and man it felt so good!

Ok, I hate this type of organizing and as sure as I give something away I feel like I need it. My husband gave me the 6 month rule about clothes when I am trying to figure out what to give away…if I haven’t worn it in six months, it goes!
I always dread cleaning out my closet becasue it can be overwhelming at first…but it always feel great afterwards to clear the clutter. Plus if you decide to give away clothes to charity, even better! I cannot wait for fall either, it was about 70 degrees in Ga today and beautiful!
It feels fantastic to get rid of it all, doesn’t it?! I tend to do a huge purge at least once a year but a second one certainly couldn’t hurt. This fall weather is definitely inspiring me to get motivated and clean up my act!
I do this right before summer and right before fall. My husband once tried to tell me that I didn’t need and new clothes! Yea, right, look he was talking to!

I love fall cleaning! I enjoy going though my closet to see what cute things I may have forgotten or that I purchased at the end of the season and haven’t gotten to wear yet. I took 3 bags to a charity a few days ago. I’m soooo ready for fall!

I am obsessively organized – especially in my closet. I keep the closet organized first by type of item (sleeveless, short-sleeve, 3/4 sleeve, long sleeve, cardigans, sweaters, dresses, skirts, shorts, capris, pants – you get the idea) and within those catgories everything is done by color – ROYGBIV! I do a major closet clean-out every three months (like clockwork) and always feel so invigorated afterwards! I especially like finding things that have been “lost” in my closet.
Funny, I was just thinking how I absolutely must purge my closet asap. This is good inspiration to get started – and go buy replacements, of course!
Ok. I hate getting rid of stuff.. especially clothes. I have this insane voice in my head that says “True, you haven’t worn this in 4 years, but you miighht this year”.
But I’ve been inspired, big time. I’ll be doing a major cleaning out of the closet this weekend and I have yall to thank. My husband will be so happy! I really can’t wait!
