I’ve allowed myself to have one big bad meal per week and I had mine tonight. {Yummy! } Now I feel pretty full and huge.
My crazy exercise routine sort of fell by the wayside after the wedding. I still get in a decent amount of exercise, but I haven’t been consistent. Fortunately, Group Exercise at the University starts back tomorrow and I’m excited to get my routine back. Last semester, there was a 5:30 class option, but it has bumped back to 5:45. I’m not trying to sound like a whiner or anything, but those fifteen minutes can make a big difference in my daily schedule. It’s the difference between getting home at 7:00 and getting home just before 7:00. Oh well. Three nights a week won’t hurt us. Boudreaux and Fiona will just have to find their patience.
It looks like I’ll be at Body Sculpting on Tuesday and Thursday and at Cycling on Wednesday and on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Has anyone else found themselves in an exercise rut?
I’m in a rut before I even started! I just joined the gym about two weeks ago and I’ve only gone a handful of times. It’s just..it’s on the other side of town and by the time I get back into town from work it’s nearly dark…add in an hour at the gym and I’m not home until 8pm! That’s too late to make a decent dinner and I end up eating crap which totally cancels out the gym!
I know so many people that love the cycling class but when I tried it on my own one night…my butt hurt for days!!!
In order to be in a rut I’d actually have to be getting exercise! While I really, really want to get in shape, I just haven’t found anything that can hold my interest long enough to show results. This is definitely an area in which I need to improve! Thanks to a push from watching the Olympics (I’m very much a “visual” person!) I finally got myself off the couch and started walking three miles in the morning. Unfortunately, two days into what I was hoping was the beginning of a routine, the rain arrived and has stayed. Now I’m hoping I can find my motivation again once the weather clears up!
Please send positive thoughts this way. I need every single one of them I can get!

E: So proud of you! My gym has crazy class times so I can hardly ever make it.
n.m.b. and Cyndi: Something I have found that helps…I work with a trainer twice a week. Not so much for learning the exercises, but to keep me accountable. He is also great though because he does some really unusual excercises that constantly engage muscles I never knew I had, and also keeps me engaged. If you can’t afford a trainer get a friend to go along with you. I recently made a goal of running a half marathon in December. Enlisting a friend pushes both of us and keeps us on track.
Good luck to you both!
I joined the gym about a month ago and loved it for about….2 weeks. But I agree, it is hard to not get home until 7 and then not eat dinner until 8. I have gone before work twice and it was the best solution but 5:30 am comes very early!!!
I am definitely in a rut, but I like it! I’ve been doing the same exercising (elliptical) for years. I do an hour 5 x a week (6, if I really feel motivated). I used to run outdoors, but when we moved to our new apartment in Lafayette, it was in a high traffic area. And here – well, I’m not sure that I trust those MA drivers enough to put myself on the road with them (seriously, they’re terrible drivers)! Anyway, I love the elliptical because it keeps me in shape, and I can do it whenever I want 🙂 But those classes do sound fun!
YESSSSSS! I am in the same boat since our wedding, I have no motivation and I am determined to not gain weight after I get married.
I had mexican last night and told myself today is the day I get back on track today. The best thing I can say is try and make it part of your normal routine like brushing you teeth, plus if you can stick with it for a couple of weeks….it gets to be much easier.
Good LUCK!
You remind me so much of me it is crazy. My coworker that also reads your blog even said so 🙂
I love Spin class and am constantly allowing myself “cheat meals” which everyone thinks is so funny!
