I know there are lots of newlyweds out there that may pop in to read my posts. Am I the only one that is seriously annoyed by the question, “How’s married life?”
Maybe it just annoys me because everyone and their brother asks that when they see us. It’s the same. We’re still together, we’re still happy, we love it. That’s why we decided to get married. Come up with something else to say when you see us, please.

I completely understand – I always get asked the same question as well – “How’s the wedding planning going?” Well, our wedding is in June 2009. I’m going to be planning for a LONG time still! 🙂
Just wait…soon they’ll be asking when you’re going to have kids. 🙂
Amen!
yes!! we just got married in June and that’s the 1st thing people always ask us! I mean what do they expect us to say, oh it’s awful!
I just got married too, and we get that question all the time!! My hubby and I always joke and say we don’t like each other and fun while it lasted.
How irritating!!! People keep asking me about planning our wedding, and its not until October 2009! I feel bad, because aside from setting the date and booking the reception site. I’ve done next to nothing!!! I think people are just trying to be friendly, but you’re right, marriage must be pretty great or you wouldn’t have done it!
My new husband had the best response to the question “How is married life?” He answers: “It’s great! Just like before, but without all the wedding planning!”
Thats annoying – for me, I always get asked about the wedding . . . how are the wedding plans coming, is everything done, its the happiest time of your life . . .
Yeah, I’m getting the “So when are y’all going to have kids?” question a lot…it’s none of your business, so back off! Haha..but seriously, what if we were having fertility issues or something? Awkward!
Oh, and there is one guy from our hometown that always asks me “So are you still married?” Talk about straight to the point!
This is my biggest pet peeve. Luckily the question dies down after a year, but yes….then comes the question about kiddos:)
I am tired of hearing it too!! And the kids thing too. I am going to start telling people we are just practicing.
I love your blog! I am getting the same question as well…so dull. And I have to echo everyone else in commenting on how everyone is already asking when we will have kids. It’s like,”Come on! Can’t we enjoy being married for a bit before we even start to THINK about kids.”
I just stumbled upon your blog!! Love it!!
This post really resonated with me…my boss literally asked me this question not 5 minutes ago! HA
Last week when I was out with my husband’s family for dinner his mother asked me, “Do you really think you should be drinking that wine? Aren’t you going to have kids?”…I responded with, ‘Not today!” and then took a huge sip of wine from my glass!
LOL! I guess its just one of those things that people think they’re supposed to say – or an air filler.
I am now vowing never to say this to newlyweds… even when I’m crusty and old 🙂
