{vlog} baby books and photo storage

Oh yay. It’s time for another vlog! I recorded this vlog this weekend. I mention in the vlog that I’m trying to use my home organization notebook blog planning section and get some of my blog posts written on Sunday afternoons/evenings and scheduled to post. The main reason for this is that my actual computer time is limited to about one hour per day. I have my iPhone with me way too often, but I just can’t get to the computer. We have a desktop and it’s been up in our bedroom since Hayes was born, so it’s hard to get there with enough time to sit down and take care of business. I never have enough ideas on Sunday to post for the entire week, so that leaves me room to throw something in when I get an idea.

Sometimes, if the idea strikes me at a time when I’m away from my computer, I’ll just type it up in the notes app of my iPhone and transfer it to my blog later.

Anyway, back to the vlog.

Two things:

1. The double chin is quite evident in this vlog.

2. Maybe if I practice vlogs more often, I’ll say “umm” a little less? Maybe?

Links to everything I mention are listed below.

Exposures Charter Memo Photo Album– You can also find the Charter collection without the memo pages

Exposures On the Day You Were Born Keepsake Box– You can also order this to come with magazines and newspapers from the day your baby was born, but I just got the box. We saved the local paper and a couple of magazines and put them in the box. It’s much less expensive not to order the magazines and newspapers.

Exposures Art Files– These are great for storing kids artwork and projects. It’s a big, flat box that’s not very deep and you can get it in lots of different colors.

Way Cool Designs baby books- I love her site and think she just does a wonderful job.

Blurb– printed books that are of the highest quality and so easy to make!

List Plan It- for hundreds of lists to put your world in order

How do you keep up with memories, art work and photos?

Hey Erin! I am a new blogger! I have been following you for a few months now! I envy your organization! I hope someday I am able to record my childrens lives for them as well as you have recorded for Hayes and Hudson! You are fabulous! I just ordered Baby Books from WayCool for my niece that is do in November! I thought it was cool to see that you had good things to say about them!

Hello! I’m a new reader and love your blog! Our girls each have the same baby book personalized with their initial and I have just recently started doing the digital photo books. I have done one for each of our girls and then a few more of special trips or holidays. I love the charter photo albums you have for actual photos, I need to get some of those! All my albums are all differant sizes/colors, so I have to store them in a basket because they don’t look nice on a shelf. 😉

I try my best to keep up with the ever-growing baby book-easier said than done some weeks. I also order monthly Shutterfly books-when there’s a sale, I order more as gifts for the grandparents 🙂 I can definitely do more though!!

I love these ideas. Thanks so much for sharing! might be trying them out very soon. I have always wanted to get all matching photo books that look nice on the shelf but the ones I have seen in the stores look so cheap. thanks for the sharing where you got them!

This was so great, Erin! I am working on a blurb book for my son’s first year, but I love love those real photo albums you have. I also like the idea of having “real” photos, and I have great memories of looking through my old photo albums from when I was little, so I might have to look more into those albums! Thanks for sharing! I love your vlogs, I just love your voice and accent. Er, hopefully that doesn’t sound creepy! Haha 🙂

What double chin?!?! You look great!! I hope to be half as organized as you are when I’m a mommy…you are creating such precious keepsakes!! My only tip might be to add dates next to photos if the date didn’t come printed on the photo like it often would when we were kids (and used that stuff called film for cameras!)….reason being that we had a hard time with chronological order for my wedding slideshow on the photos that didn’t have dates. Not a big deal (and you can always guesstimate a year by looking at the age of the boys in the pic), but just an idea!! Thanks for sharing!

I loved your vlog and all your ideas. I am going to remember them for my granddaughter and also I would love to make some of the books for us with our granddaughter. Honestly though, I must say — you are cute as a button and NO double chin at all !!! You seem so organized — you will be so happy when your children are older and you have kept all their memories in a organized location. I wish I had been a little more so when mine were young. Thanks for a wonderful blog (and vlog) — love reading it.

Such great ideas!! I’ve totally bookmarked this to remember when I have my first! And I’m purchasing an exposures photo album to put together of pictures of me and my husband from the past 2 years. I always loved flipping through my parents old albums as a kid so this is perfect! Thanks for sharing! And your hair looks fabulous as always! 🙂

I just went through my baby book the last time I was home and laughed so hard at some of the stories and photos my mom had in there! It’s a great gift for them.

It is amazing that you do this for your children. I don’t have children yet, but will definitely do this as well. I already have all my pictures printed out every few months because just like you I am a traditionalist. Can I just say that you look gorgeous?! Not sucking up, it’ s the truth. I love your long hair.

I loved the idea of using the fabric for their books! That is so sweet! My mom made books for each of us four and then made extra ones for her and dad to keep. I got mine when I got married and they mean so much to me! Not only the pictures themselves bring back memories, but also the memory of sitting with my mom when I was a little girl, looking at all the pictures – over and over again. Your boys are very lucky that you are making these for them!!

Wow, I can honestly say that I am jealous of how organized you are! LOVE the baby books and the boxes are a great idea too. Considering that sadly I have not printed a photo in about 4 years, I better get on it soon. 😉

I love the baby books. Wish I’d known about that site when my son was born. I had the hardest time finding something cute and would have loved something like that.

I have a question for you? Where do you find all of your fabrics? I live in Greensboro, NC and have a few local places I like for higher end fabrics. I really hoped to have Monroe’s bedding made, but couldn’t find anything I loved. Well, I found one or two things, but wanted to use several prints that could be coordinated and that proved to be a real challenge. I didn’t find out the gender until his birth, so I was hoping for some fun primaries or some great greens and yellows. I ended up choosing something from pottery barn that works, but wasn’t what I’d hoped for. I’m hoping to be able to get what I want for his big boy room in a year or so. There’s a large store just south of Charlotte called Mary Jo’s, but I was wondering if you know of any good online fabric dealers. Thanks!

I love love love this VLOG! I am a big scrapbooker, memory keeper ( aka hoarder) so I LOVE these ideas , especially the exposures albums!
My husbands mother had a trunk for each kid where she kept their keepsakes and it was awesome and hilarious what was inside. His cast from the year he broke his arm, love letters from high school sweetheart, star wars stuff, old metal lunchbox, mickey mouse bank, football jacket, soccer trophy.and lots of early years art and school work which was SO MUCH FUN to read his stories he had to write and all. I want to do a trunk for each child too. First I Must find a trunk i love. She used antique army ones.
