if we've got to work….

…Why not work somewhere like this?

For various reasons, I’ve started thinking about making our home office a little more work friendly. We’ve currently got a pretty desk (pretty feminine, too), an old pie safe that I’m using as a display cabinet, and a ladder-like book shelf. We also have the dog crates in there, which doesn’t have to be a permanent thing. Anyway… I may get to work more in our home office soon and everyone needs a good work space! Aren’t these rooms wonderful? I have been in love with that project table for a long time.

I’m also thrilled that Pottery Barn is giving us the information on the paint in their photos!

Do you have a home work space? Where do you compose all of your fabulous blog entries?

We finally got our living room draperies all installed on Friday! My mom works as an in home consultant for Calico Corners (an amazing fabric company) and our Christmas gift from her was custom draperies for our living room. It was a pretty big project, so we finally got the draperies in last week and got the installation completed on Friday.
Have I mentioned that I’m not working on Fridays anymore? At least until mid-August. The University offered an optional flexible schedule that allows employees to work their required hours Monday-Thursday and take Friday off. It was presented as a way for people to save gas. I live a mile from the office, so that’s not really my problem. I just really like three day weekends and wanted to take advantage of the opportunity before classes begin in the fall. So I get to work at 7:30 a.m. now and leave at 5:30 p.m. Have I mentioned that I’m sleepy?
Anyway… the guy came to finish installing the draperies on Friday when I was at home and I’m so excited to show you the first nearly-completed room in our house. We’re so excited to have the curtains! Our living room is full of windows and we have it grouped into two seating areas. Our TV is on one side and there are basically two walls of windows around the TV. The night we met our neighbor, she said, “I see you like American Idol.” Um…. yes. Creepy Peeping Tom Lady. Now we can watch whatever we want without it becoming neighborhood news!

Todd and I made the trek (90 miles) up to Charlotte today after church and lunch. I had a gift card to Kate Spade that I wanted to try and use. A lot of people are “over Kate Spade,” but I’m a preppy girl and I love her bright colors and classic lines. Her paper goods are adorable and I’m always anxious to see what she designs each year.

Todd gave me this adorable green bag as my wedding gift and filled it with a couple of outfits to wear on our honeymoon in Maui.

Poor Todd. He told me after I opened it that he had a whole lotta trouble finding this bag. He called Kate Spade stores all over the country and checked the website daily until he finally gave up and ordered the black version of the bag and planned on explaining it all to me later and continue to make attempts to locate the green bag. Days before the wedding, he got a call from the Kate Spade store in Charlotte that the green bag had arrived and they would ship it overnight to Todd in Columbia. So here he is with two bags in two different colors. I got the green one and he attempted to return the black one about a month ago. Well, he had waited too long to return it, so they wrote a very nice letter to him and gave us a Kate Spade gift card instead. Lucky me! He probably should have saved the gift card and given it to me for Christmas.

When we showed up at the store today, Todd introduced himself and they all remembered talking to him a few months ago! They were excited to meet us and see the bag on my arm! My husband still goes on and on about the amazing people at Kate Spade stores all over the country and how friendly and customer oriented they are. I think he’s willing to be their spokesperson if they ever ask.

I’ve needed a wallet for a long time now, so I went to use part of my gift card and hopefully find a wallet that I loved today. I picked this one out! Adorable, right?

why so serious?

Yes, Todd and I saw The Dark Knight on Saturday night. It was so much fun!
I’m not a comic follower (or graphic novel follower for those that want to get technical), but I have always had a thing for Batman. I think he’s great because he’s all man. No super human powers or anything. Just a man. In a tight suit. And a lot of money to buy expensive toys to get him out of jams with bad guys.
Anyway… the movie was wonderful. The theater was freakin’ packed and it was really hot in there, but everyone was mesmerized by the whole movie. The cast was amazing– Christian Bale, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Maggie Gyllenhaal, and the unforgettable Joker, Heath Ledger. I thought that people may have been giving him such awesome reviews just to pay tribute to him after his untimely death. I was wrong. He was funny, scary, disturbing, and pretty much your worst nightmare.
I was also surprised that the language in the movie wasn’t bad at all. Just a lot of violence. Anyway… if your honey is wanting to see this movie then go with him because you’ll like it a lot, too.

I made need to remove this image from the blog. It doesn’t go that well with “Blue-Eyed Bride,” does it?
