more pink and gold

I found this beautiful pink and gold inspiration board on the Style Me Pretty blog. Abby, the writer, always puts together some amazing ideas and posts inspiration boards by talented readers. This board just reaffirms my confidence in the pink and gold color scheme. I just love the detail on the plate in the center. The pink mixes some “new” in with the classic and traditional gold. I can’t wait until the wedding is over and I can put together a board with the pictures that Kelly Moore takes to showcase all of our wedding ideas.

Abby from Style Me Pretty also put together this board from some of Liz Banfield’s pictures from Tara Guerard’s (of Soiree Charleston) weddings. The peonies are just gorgeous! Can’t get enough pink!

I have had so much fun reading other brides’ blogs and expanding on some of my ideas. I doubt this little activity will go away after the wedding is over.

cake, cake, cake

Wedding details are being finalized and I can’t believe that we’re just over 3 months away from the big day. On Saturday morning I drove to Greenville for my trial hair appointment and to pick up my two miniature cakes to taste. The hair appointment was lots of fun and I really enjoyed getting to know the guy that’s doing my hair. We worked out one potential style on Saturday and I’m going back in a few weeks to try it one more way.

After my hair appointment, I drove to visit my cake maker, Patty Cakes. She prepared two miniature cakes for me in the two (surprise) flavors that I’ve chosen. The little cakes were just so cute! I tasted them immediately after I got home and Todd and I couldn’t stay out of them. I brought all that was left of them to work today to give to my coworkers– I don’t need that much cake BEFORE the wedding.

Pay no attention to the design on the cake– there are much better things to come!

My first shower is this weekend in Dallas, hosted by my Aunt Lillie at the Mansion at Turtle Creek. I’m so excited to see everyone and get fitted for my dress again. I’ll post pictures of the shower next week.

Our Wedding in a Blog

I know I haven’t shared many specific details about the big day on here, so I’m going to share as much as I can from clippings that I like and pictures of things that we’re using:
The Charles E. Daniel Chapel at Furman University where the ceremony will be held

The Westin Poinsett Hotel from the outside and the Gold Ballroom where the reception will be held

The Loft at Soby’s where the bridesmaid luncheon will be held on May 2

Rehearsal dinner location

Todd’s attire and the groomsmen’s attire

Bridesmaid’s attire (except the dresses are a champagne color- similar to the tie above)

Two ideas for cakes- I’m not sure which one I like best yet

The Root Doctors- our funky cool band!

An idea that I love, but I’ve had to give up. We originally wanted an outdoor wedding where the beautiful Goldens would have been welcome, but I know the Daniel Chapel and Poinsett Hotel wouldn’t be thrilled to see wild man Boudreaux.

That’s all I can include for now. If you’re in Greenville for our wedding on May 3, you’ll see all the other little details!

6 Months to Go!

On Saturday morning, November 3, Todd and I were standing in line at Starbuck’s and almost simultaneously said to each other, “It’s November 3. Six months to go!” We’re so excited and can’t believe how close it’s getting.
We’ll close on the house on December 28, I’ll move in and start decorating, and then the countdown will start. Once 2008 arrives, I know the days are just going to fly by and I’m going to be wishing I had more time to get everything done. My biggest concern is that our big golf tournament, the Garnet Jacket Classic, is the weekend before the wedding. From January-May 3 I’m going to be juggling the tournament and the wedding– and y’all know I’m going to want to work on the wedding more than the tournament.
Keep us in your prayers as we prepare our hearts and minds for the big day and, most importantly, our life together!
I haven’t shared all of our engagement pictures yet.

Some of them are obviously not print-worthy and please keep in mind that it was a very hot day in Louisiana. I am just going to give Kelly a shout out, though. She is the most amazing photographer. She’s located in Ruston, Louisiana and I’ve known her since I was a little girl. After college, she really started doing some amazing things with wedding photographer and I’ve just known that she had to do our pictures. We took our engagement pictures in July, I’ll go back to Louisiana for my bridal pictures in the Spring, and then Kelly is coming here for the wedding in May. Go to http://www.kellymoorephotography.com/ for more of her amazing photography!
Kelly was about 8 months pregnant the day we took our pictures and she was such a stud! She was lying on the ground to get some of the shots. Her little girl, Posey, was born about a month ago and she’s absolutely gorgeous!
Anyway… enjoy the pictures!
