Happy Valentine's Day!

My sweet fiance showed up this morning with my Valentine’s Day present… a Blackberry Pearl… but it’s PINK! Perfect for me and for Valentine’s Day! I have no idea how to use it, but now I can be just like Todd. We can both constantly check our emails all day long. He knew I really needed one for work. It’s so hard to be at an event all day and be receiving emails while I’m away about the events and not be able to check the messages. And now I can plan the wedding from wherever I am. While I’m away this weekend I can still communicate with our vendors and make sure things are still rolling along. This way, I’ll always be in loop… and I’ll always be able to get techy love notes from Todd. We’re so predictably practical!

tv addiction

I have a lot of shows that I love to watch and make sure that I DVR, but my new favorite is Jon and Kate Plus 8 on TLC or Discovery Health.

These people have a set of twins and a set of sextuplets. I just can’t get enough! They’ve got cameras in their house as they live their lives with two 6 year olds and six 3 year olds. The kids are so cute, so loud, so bad, and so much fun! Kate, the mom, is a control freak like me and is very very organized. I have my DVR set to record every episode just in case one comes on that I’ve never seen before. I came home from an event last night and Todd was at the house playing with the dog. I heard Jon and Kate Plus 8 on the TV and asked him if he had been watching it. He said, “No. The DVR is recording two things right now, so it went to TLC and wouldn’t let me change the channel.” I don’t think he dislikes the show, but it’s definitely not his favorite.

If you love kids and the funny things they say then you have to watch this show!

good old emily

I thought this Emily Post quote on bridal etiquette was classically hilarious!

“She must not swing her arms as though they were dangling ropes; she must not switch herself this way and that; she must not shout; and she must not, while wearing her bridal veil, smoke a cigarette.”

my color inspiration

I have issues of InStyle Weddings and Martha Stewart Weddings dating back to 1998. It’s shameful, but true. I have gone through every issue and picked out my favorite wedding, event, and design ideas and saved them all in a very well-organized binder. When I went back through to find my favorite ideas to use for our wedding, I found one thing that really stuck out to me.

The “dinner and dancing” card in the bottom left hand corner has been the inspiration for our wedding colors (pink and gold), the save the date and invitation fonts as well as the fonts and colors of all of the “Will You Be My Bridesmaid?” gifts. I love the pink and gold together– especially since the ballroom is gold. The pink really softens it up and the gold is bold enough to make a strong statement. I’ve seen the invitation proof and I loved it! I can’t wait to see the finished invitations. The Save the Dates were a lot of fun to put together. The common theme through the whole wedding is the beautiful lace design from the handkerchief that Todd’s mom gave me the night we got engaged. She carried the hanky on her wedding day and saved it all these years for her son’s bride to carry at her wedding. It has a gorgeous paisley design and has been a beautiful graphic on the Save the Dates, invitations, and even more unexpected places to come later….

I will carry four handkerchiefs on our wedding day; one that my mom gave me that was my baby bonnet, one that mom bought me in Brugge with a little “E” on it, one that my bridesmaids and I bought when Jennifer got married that we intend to pass around, and the one that Todd’s mom gave me. If I cry, I’ll know I’m prepared.

I saw this cake on Brides.com and thought it was beautiful! We’re planning on having a pink cake for the brides cake and a surprise for the grooms cake, but I love this color pink and the beautiful sugar flowers on it. Our cake will have a special design on it, but if that falls through, I’m asking for this!
