simple silhouettes

When my parents came to Columbia for our engagement, they stayed with Todd’s parents. My mom noticed that Todd’s parents had a profile silhouette of Todd when he was little and my parents have a profile silhouette of me, too. We are going to display these on the bride’s cake table at the wedding. These below are not of Todd and me, but just an example I found on theknot.com.

My coworker, Brooke, came over today to help me make the farewell wands. We made 150 farewell wands and I think they turned out great! I’m really excited about them. Our on site coordinator at the Westin Poinsett thanked me for not throwing or lighting anything and being environmentally friendly for our send off, so I think this is the most “green” thing we’ve done!

I’m really starting to feel good about everything! I’ve just got to get through all of my events at work and then I’m good to go!

Best Husband-to-Be Ever

Today I was coming back to work after going to my lunch time spinning class. The Blossom Shop van was parked outside of our building and I just love that place! I said something to the delivery guy like, “Who’s that for?!” He kind of ignored me, then told me that they were for Erin Akin. I told him, “That’s me!” He didn’t believe me until I finally showed him my ID! He gave me the GORGEOUS bouquet and I got to proudly walk back into my office with beautiful pink and yellow roses, snap dragons, gerbera daisies, and lillies. The card said, “I am so excited about our wedding! I love you! Todd.”

I honestly couldn’t ask for anything more. I can’t wait either!

cake problem: SOLVED

Todd and I had such a great day in Greenville yesterday. We visited the gorgeous campus to look for beautiful photo spots, visited the hotel and the downtown area and then went to our cake maker’s house to go over our cake options.

Ever since Abby at Style Me Pretty clued me in to April Reed’s cakes, I’ve been a bit obsessed with their original, clean look. I took these photos to Patty and we decided to use both cakes.

The top cake is what our bridesmaid cake will look like, but it will have pink ribbon instead of green ribbon and the little bridesmaid charms will be coming out between the top and bottom layer. We’re also going to use pink orchids instead of the lillies.

The bottom cake is a little what our wedding cake will look like. The cake will sit on a beautiful silver square plateau and that will be on top of a monogrammed runner with our new monogram. The cake will be pink instead of white and will have gold ribbon instead of brown. We will put two white peonies in a couple of the corners. It is very simple, but I know it will look great with everything else we’ve chosen for the reception.

Here’s a picture of Todd and me just outside of the Charles E. Daniel chapel. Such a pretty day, but we needed our sunglasses!

our wedding video

I’ve spent the day doing some of the more tedious projects to get ready for the wedding. We wrapped our wedding party gifts and wrote more thank you notes. I’ve written at least 100 thank you notes in the past month and there are more to come!

I had to get all of our baby, childhood, and courtship pictures together to send to the videographer. I found a videographer that would also make our rehearsal dinner/champagne party video and I was so relieved to find someone to take that load off of us. All I had to do was organize the pictures in categories — after I found them, printed them, and narrowed them down. The videographer recommended that we narrow it down to 125 pictures, but after I organized and numbered them all in order, I had 280 pictures. Oops. Oh well. It’s our video.

I had such a good time selecting the music for the video. I would choose a song, put it in a playlist and flip through the pictures as I listened to the songs. I selected the following tunes for our video:

Blessed by Elton John for baby pictures of both of us
American Girl by Tom Petty for childhood pictures of me
Drive by Alan Jackson for childhood pictures of Todd
You’re My Best Friend by Queen for pictures of Walker and me
Today I Met the Boy I’m Gonna Marry by The Crystals for pictures of Todd and me during high school and college years
I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles) by The Proclaimers for pictures of our courtship
Everything by Michael Buble for more pictures of our courtship

I really love the songs and can’t wait to see the finished product of the video. Hopefully the videographer will still finish it even though we have twice as many pictures as we’re supposed to have!
