Local Friends: PJs With Santa Giveaway

Okay, y’all. Today’s post is for all of my local readers. If you live in Columbia, South Carolina or within reasonable driving distance of Columbia, South Carolina, this post is just for you!

One of our favorite holiday events every year is PJs With Santa as part of the Junior League of Columbia’s annual Holiday Market. I did the decorations for Holiday Market for a few years and then worked on the PJs with Santa committee last year, so this event is near and dear to my heart.

First of all, Santa is the real Santa. Seriously. He has the most beautiful beard and the prettiest Santa suit and this incredibly regal chair. He is just Santa! And my kids love him! Just look at my boys with him over the past couple of years.

In addition to having the best Santa in the world, this event has tons of fun activities for the kids like cookie decorating, balloon artist, Little Gym, Tag it Art, watching classic Christmas movies, and a scavenger hunt around the market! It’s always such a fun night. I can shop a little bit, the kids can do fun Christmas activities, meet Santa, and we get a fantastic photo!

The photo is taken by Jennifer Gray Photography and is a high quality, high res photo.

This year’s event is on Friday, December 5 at from 5-8 p.m. at the Cantey Building at the South Carolina State Fairgrounds.

Tickets are $8 per child/adult and children 12 months and younger are admitted free.

Minted Holiday Card Preview

Choosing our photo for this year is another story… it’s amazing how much children can change in six months. They don’t even look like the same from our summer pictures!

Minted introduced their gold foil line last Christmas, and this Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas with Gold Foil is absolutely stunning. I’m definitely leaning toward this one. It’s just so pretty!

We always do a photo card, but this Noel non-photo card is just so simple and so pretty. I love everything about this design.

This Nestled In For The New Year card is perfect as a New Year card and a moving announcement. It’s so nice to be able to do a dual purpose card to cut down on the costs of postage.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school for Hudson and Hayes. We were one of the last schools to start in our area and we were all ready.

Last night when we got home from church, I tucked Hudson in and prayed with him about his first day of kindergarten. He told me that he might be a little bit shy and was going to miss his teacher from last year. But I promised him that he would love his new teachers and that they’d have a great year.

We laid out all the paperwork we had to take with us and set out their clothes, so we could have as smooth a morning as possible. I set my alarm for 6:30, but I was wide awake at 6:15. I think I was nervous, too!

I didn’t want him to be late and I didn’t want to rush. I made breakfast and got myself ready and then Hudson and Hayes got up and came downstairs. It was such a smooth morning.

Both boys even agreed to let me take their picture!

Hudson’s school starts an hour before Hayes’s does, so Todd and Hayes stayed at home while I took Hudson to school. He held my hand walking down the hall, and was eager to meet his teachers and check out what was going on in the classroom. I kissed him on the head and walked out. Once he saw his buddies, he was just thrilled to be there.

I ran home and got Hayes, took his picture, and then went back to school for him to start. He walked right in, used the potty (yay!), and washed his hands. And then he found his place in the room.

It’s going to be a great year for both boys, and I know they’re both going to grow and change so much this year. Hayes will gain more independence and Hudson is just going to learn so much and change so much.

Hudson even got a head start on his homework today while I put Hayes down for his nap. He’s going to love school!
