pink bow bath boutique giveaway

It’s time for my first giveaway of the summer. I’m really excited about it for a couple of reasons. First, the owner of the company is super sweet and creates all of her products herself! Second, the owner is also pregnant with a little boy and knows just how much women (especially pregnant women) need to be pampered.

Check out her website and Etsy site for more details on all of the Pink Bow Bath Boutique products.

Today you can enter to win a 4 ounce Whipped Body Frosting, a 5 ounce Sugary Body Polish and a 1 ounce Eau de Perfume (EDP) all in the Pink Bow Bath Boutique best selling fragrance, Pink Passion Sand Beaches.

Pink Passion Sand Beaches – Fresh ocean air, hot shimmering sands, and bronzed bodies glistening with suntan lotion mingle with the intoxicating aromas of fresh island-grown passion fruits, juicy pineapples, sweet guavas, and glistening strawberries, all sprinkled generously with sparkling pink sugar.

Don’t you just know that smells like summer?

To enter, just leave a comment on this post telling me why you deserve to be pampered this summer. I will use random number generator to pick a winner.

You have until July 28 to enter and the winner will be announced on July 29. Unfortunately, I have to limit the entries to US residents.

Because she’s just that awesome, the owner of the Pink Bow Bath Boutique has offered a discount code to all Blue-Eyed Bride readers if you mention Blue-Eyed Bride in the comments section of her site when you check out. She will refund you 15% of your purchase, so don’t forget to go to www.pinkbowbathboutique.com or www.pinkbowbathboutique.etsy.com.

my friday rant

Walmart’s. Starbuck. Belk’s. Barnes and Nobles. Yuck.

Why do people have such a hard time pronouncing and spelling the store names as they should be? Why does Wal-Mart have to become possessive? Why does Starbucks have to become singular? And why would you pluralize Barnes and Noble unless you did, in fact, visit more than one Barnes and Noble location?

I just don’t understand why some people have trouble reading a sign and then adding an “s.” And why, if it already has an “s” like Starbucks or Walgreens, do you take the “s” away?

Don’t change the name of the business. Don’t get confused with the way it’s spelled. If there’s an “s” on the end, go ahead and pronounce it that way. If there’s not an “s”, you don’t need to add one or make the business possessive. Yes, some places of business already have an apostrophe and “s” on the end of it because that’s what the owners chose to name it. That’s fine. Go ahead and pronounce it that way.

Rant over. Happy Friday!

Thanks to Erin who commented and reminded me of my biggest pet peeve of all. It is Nordstrom, people. Not Nordstroms.

And thanks to Hannah for pointing out my own spelling error where I left an “s” off of the word “places.” Sorry! I realize that makes me look like a moron when I write about mispronunciation and spelling errors and have one in my post. Forgive me?

peonies

I’m lacking in the inspiration department, but I saw this image today and had to share with you.

Then I had to find some of those adorable pots for myself! You can order any number you want– or all of them. It almost makes me want to grow something– but what?

I hope your day is beautiful as those peonies. And if you want to leave me some inspiration I’d really appreciate it!

what I love about the South

It’s hot outside. And I mean it’s H-O-T. I dread summertime. I know, I know. You can think I’m crazy for saying that, but who likes to sweat when you’re not even doing anything to work up a sweat? Columbia is like an oven and it’s just wet outside from the humidity. Blech. Every year when summertime comes, I wish I lived somewhere else.

I don’t like to sweat. My hair is naturally wavy and the humidity mixed with my hair is a dangerous combination. (Remember what Monica looked like in Barbados on Friends?)

You know the snowbirds that fly south from the Midwest and go to Florida to live in a condo on the beach in the winter? I’d like to move to a mild, dry climate in the summer. Because I’m all down on the south and the southern heat right now, I thought I should make a good list about what I absolutely love about the south to remind myself why I’d never want to live anywhere else.

Sonic and Chick-fil-A

I know these aren’t exclusively Southern, but you can bet that you’re going to find one of these restaurants in a Southern town. Mmmm boy! Tater tots, Cherry Limeades, Chick-fil-A chicken sandwiches, diet lemonade. Holy deliciousness, Batman. I love the south!

SEC football and being surrounded by others that recognize its superiority

Big 10 and Big 12 folks should step aside. The SEC pride is strong and can be found in all the Southern states. There’s no denying the superiority of the SEC– especially to a Southerner. If you try to prove an SEC fan wrong on this you will not win and may make a few enemies in the process.

Charming Accents

While some say that Southern accents or country accents make people sound dumb or uneducated, I think it’s charming and endearing. I can think of accents that are a lot more shrill-sounding. Think Rachael Ray and nails on the chalkboard.

Okay, Charming Everything

From  the local restaurants with the same servers and staff that have been there since the doors opened to time honored traditions for every occasion under the sun, things in the south are just charming. Sometimes being in the south makes you feel like you’ve stepped back in time to the days where people can leave their doors unlocked and let the neighbors walk in.

The Food and the People that Prepare It

I can’t say enough good things about Southern cooking. I’m from Louisiana originally so I have a pretty high standard of food excellence, but I don’t have to go far to find great food. Our Sunday school friends provided us with meals for three weeks after Hudson was born and we didn’t have a single bad meal. The beautiful women that prepared the meals for us are also great about sharing recipes. There is, though, an unspoken rule that if you provide your recipe to your friend then she is not to prepare that dish for you.

Seersucker and the men that wear it proudly

There are non-Southern men that wear seersucker, but they don’t get away with it without some harassment. I’m not the preppiest girl in the land and don’t live for Vineyard Vines and Lilly Pulitzer, but I can handle some seersucker.

So tell me, Southerners, what do you love about the south? If you can’t stand the heat what redeems the south in the summertime for you?
