Hudson: 4 months old

Hudson turned 4 months old on Monday and we just had his 4 month appointment yesterday. He got two shots and got weighed and measured. He weighs a whopping 18.1 lbs and measures 26 3/4 inches long. His height and weight put him above the 95th percentile. We know he’s growing!

Here is his 3 month picture next to his funny monkey friend and his 4 month picture in the same chair next to the same monkey.

Loving his Jump ‘n Go!

Here are his latest milestones:

Hudson still loves to be upright.

He is rolling over all the time– in all directions (left to right, right to left,  back to front and front to back)

He pushes up when it’s time to get out of his carseat. His little legs stiffen and he almost pushes up on his own.

He is babbling all the time! Such a great sound.

He blows little raspberries and enjoys hearing himself spit.

We’ve heard a giggle twice now– and shamefully it was when Todd and I were singing “Rump Shaker” to him.

And our pediatrician encouraged us to go ahead and feed our big boy some rice cereal with a spoon. He was a bit confused, but he liked it. He made a huge mess, of course, but that’s all part of the fun!

Here’s to another happy, healthy month!

announcing… John Matthew Hudson Carroll

I think everyone should have received their birth announcement in the mail by now, so I can go ahead and post it here.

The birth announcements were designed by Millie Holloman’s brother, Brent.

Millie Holloman photos of Hudson

Note: Many of you asked questions about our gallery wall in your comments, so I’ve answered the most common question at the end of the post.

A few weeks ago, the amazingly talented Millie Holloman of Wilmington, NC came to our house to photograph Hudson. I first heard about Millie through our wedding photographer, Kelly Moore. Millie and Kelly (along with two other photographers) host the Love Affair workshop for female photographers every year. I found out about this workshop and Millie’s work through Kelly’s blog

We wanted newborn pictures of Hudson for our family wall, but also for the birth announcement. Millie was such a joy to work with. I knew that she is a brilliant wedding photographer, but she was so great with a baby. I think this is pretty rare. She was so patient! Hudson was not wanting to fall asleep and Millie just waited it out with us for him to be in a good mood… and finally for him to fall asleep. It’s easy to get stressed out when your baby won’t stop crying and you’ve got one of the best photographers in the country in your house trying to take his picture! But she was so great and I can’t say enough good things about her.

The images are just so precious– especially because he’s growing so quickly. I can’t wait to go to Wilmington to get some family photos on the beach with Millie.

I’m not going to share the birth announcement with you until we mail it out, but here’s a peek at some of the photos she took. Isn’t he dreamy?

where Hudson sleeps…

Our nursery came together the night before we went into the hospital for the induction. Just in time! Hudson already loves his little room and we’re so happy to finally have a baby in there!

We wanted a really happy nursery that our sweet boy could grow up in. I think he’ll still love it when he’s a smelly little toddler that likes to dig up worms!
