The Future of Your Home: Part 2

Last week I talked about the incredible appliances that Whirlpool would be showcasing at the Consumer Electronics Show. The product I was most excited about the CoolVox refrigerator that plays music and makes it much easier to have dance parties in the kitchen.
But along with music in the kitchen, the CoolVox will also play instructional podcasts while you’re in the kitchen preparing a meal. I think this would make for really fun dinner parties with friends. Or might even make it easier for kids to help out with the meal in the kitchen on weeknights.
The Whirlpool Designer Duets are also worth taking a look at. I used to think it would be a stretch to say that laundry can now be fancy, but these Designer Duets make it possible. I love that the front loading washer and dryer can be personalized and fancified with these fun patterns.
I’m crazy about the red and white polka dot! A bright, shiny, fancy washer and dryer that reflects my personality would absolutely make it more fun to get the laundry finished each day.

When many of you left your comments last week, you talked about wanting to be able to communicate with your appliances and be able to program them when you’re away from home. You have to take a look at the next generation of Whirlpool Connected Appliances. Can you imagine if your refrigerator knew what was inside and it was all connected through wi-fi? Wouldn’t that make grocery shopping so much easier?
And if you could program your oven from your smart phone when you were heading home?

There is a new suite of appliances from Whirlpool that are digitally connected to make life easier for you. It seems almost too good to be true that we’ve reached the “future” where these things are possible! Your kitchen and appliances learn to understand your family’s needs. Wow!
With the creation of these appliances that make running a home seamless and easier than ever, Whirlpool has made the possibilities endless.

Since Whirlpool 20/20 is all about a future focused on you, we, want to hear your ideas for it. Leave a comment below telling us your idea for the future for your home and be entered to win a $1,000 grand prize.

Haha, I was one of the people who asked for remote accessibility! I think I’d have to also have a visual image before I’d really trust it, though — I’d be paranoid starting my oven when I’m not home!

I love love love the washing machines…I do not have a front loader but would love to try one out….we need a new washer/dryer!

  3. Valerie B. says

I have a 2 year old and an almost 1 year old so anything to make home life a little “easier” would be wonderful. Plus, I absolutely LOVE doing laundry!!

  4. Lauren S says

I would love to see the future of our home include state-of-the-art stainless steal appliances. Having nice, quality appliances makes a home seem so much more inviting.

  5. Cindy says

I have three daughters and they produce lots of laundry. IN my next home, we will have a washer and dryer just for their stuff!

  6. Jane Parham says

My present dishwasher has a delay option, but in the future I would love one that can be programmed to go on at the same time every night. Actually, that would be a great feature for a washing machine as well.

I would love to be able to dock my ipad into my fridge. It could play music, videos, etc. But I could also access recipes and jot down my grocery list with the touch of a finger.

We don’t have a home yet, so Step #1 get a home, Step#2, hopefully have a nice open kitchen layout with updated appliances, Step #3 host as many times as possible

In the future, I would love to have a new state of the art washer and dryer! Our top loader twists up and ruins clothes, and our dryer only runs on high heat (shrinks things) or low heat (takes forever!).

  10. Jenny R. says

I love the personalized washers and dryers! Fun! I also live the idea of the ability to turn my oven on remotely- other things that would be helpful for would be the dishwasher bc I always forget (need a way to keep detergent in and ready to go) , the crock pot, the dryer .

I love the design of this! I forgot how many pieces of laundry a newborn soils-this would be well used at our house!

  12. Andrea Frank says

We just moved into our new home last month and have a baby due in a week. Amidst all the chaos, our dryer isn’t working properly since the move. This set would be amazing for our new home and new addition. I expect to be spending some extra time in the laundry room and this Whirlpool series seems top notch!

  13. Jessica says

This is so neat! I love the idea of hooking up your appliances to wi-fi and then being able to communicate with them through your phone.

The future of our home is so exciting!! We are renovating a home from the 1800s and our new appliances will be the FEATURE of the house! My husband is a chef, so a grand kitchen is his #1 priority. Mine are a laundry chute and great washer/dryer to make this chore much easier! 🙂

  15. Diane says

Love the new styles. We are wanting to move our laundry room from the upstairs to the basement and having these beauties out would be a special treat! Thanks so much!

  16. Lisa Brown says

My idea for the future of my home: I would actually like to own a home of my own, firstly, and if I did have a home, I would want solar panels on the roof, and all energy-saving appliances in the kitchen, laundry room, sensor faucets throughout, excellent venting system over the gas range, and a nice open layout that makes moving around in the house, a breeze 🙂

  17. says

I would love a washer and dryer upstairs for only kids stuff. I would also like a fridgerator with a program that kept lists by upc codes and could access on your phone

  18. Courtney Hicks says

I would love to be able to remotely turn on/off an oven. It would be so nice to pre-heat it, so when i got home, it would be ready to go. Another great thing would be stainless appliances that don’t show scratches or fingerprints.

  19. Cheyenne McGuire says

I just bought a new house and I am moving next month!!! In my future home I want to include new, stainless steal appliances and a new washer and dryer set. I have a 5 year old boy, so you can imagine Imm going to need a lot of fridge space, and a great washer and dryer 😉

  20. Stephanie S says

LOVE the patterned washer/dryer! How fun!! Knowing what’s in your fridge is amazing…like really! I’d love to be able to start my oven from my phone, or brew a pot of coffee! I’d also love a device that steams (looks ironed) shirts while they are hanging. Lets face it, the steam cycle on my dryer is not very good at de-wrinkling! 🙂

  21. LAMusing says

I’d love a single appliance that is both a washer and dryer – toss in the clothes, come back and they are washed and dried. A space saver and a time saver!

  22. Emily says

I would love it if everything in my home (washer/dryer, fridge, oven, fire alarm, a/c) could be controlled from one central app on my phone or ipad!

  23. Sonya Morris says

I want appliances that are easy to clean, low maintence and look great! I really want a stove that shuts off automatically so I don’t get busy and forget I left it on.

  24. Teresa says

I see my home of the future very similar to the ones depicted Ray Bradbury and to Whirlpool … a smart home that communicates with itself and with me. I’m pretty sure we’re very close to that, if we’re not already there. Amazing things have happened in the blink of an eye!

  25. Margot C says

I am imagining a much more clean lined kitchen with cook top and fridge that have computer tables built in and the whole thing connected to my phone.
