10 things you didn't need to know, but I told you anyway

1. I’m driving to Charlotte today with both boys. That’s part of our new bi-monthly routine for Hayes’s doc band check ups. But Hayes is actually receiving his doc band today. I have no clue how this will go and I am just nervous about having Hudson there with us. And TC can’t come with us. We’ll be fine. Just fighting those little bears.

2. I picked up a super cute little tee shirt for Hudson from Crew Cuts. It’s for St. Patrick’s Day and says “Erin Go Bragh.” I really wish I could have purchased it in my size, but they didn’t have it in my size. So poor Hudson will get to wear it to the big St. Patrick’s Day festival parade.

3. Hayes has another devil of an ear infection. He received two rounds of rocephin already and will receive the third shot today. After he gets his doc band. Poor fella. We visited the ENT doctor yesterday and we scheduled his surgery to get tubes. We’re all looking forward to the relief for Hayes.

4. It is extremely dangerous to leave a container of Pillsbury frosting in the refrigerator.

5. What is going on with American Idol? Can anyone other than Randy Jackson offer an ounce of criticism? You’re a judge. Judge them! These folks are not that good. A couple of them are good, but not all of them. Not even half of them. I will say that I am pleased that the ones I liked made it through. If the judges can’t figure it out, at least the voting public can. This is why we prefer watching The Voice.

6. Hudson has been singing, “Get in the ark it’s going to rain. A rat-a-tat-tat and a bump-bump-bump, Noah built a great big ark. Here come the animals two by two.” He lines up all of his little animals and marches them around, making all the appropriate sounds. But, y’all, he’d sing it for hours if we didn’t start suggesting other songs. But it sure is cute!

7. I need to do a better job of taking off my eye makeup. But I’m a mascara picker. It’s the worst habit!

8. I need to work on some projects for Hayes’s party, which means I need to figure out how to make table toppers out of oil cloth. Pinterest to the rescue!

9. A really kind reader asked if I could do a post about spring fashion for moms. I don’t really feel qualified to write about that because I’m just so challenged in the wardrobe department these days. But if this is something y’all are interested in, I’ll definitely share some of my favorite things for spring. Anyone interested?

10. I am making these crack potatoes from Plain Chicken this weekend. Hallelujah. Amen.

I would love to hear about your spring tips for moms! I’m a new mom and nothing makes me feel more like a real member of society than getting dressed in ‘real’ clothes! I’m going to have to check out that potato recipe 🙂

  3. says

Slightly new here and I love this random post! Hope everything goes well for Hayes and that he gets some relief from his ears…poor guy. My husband loves icing 🙂

Girlfriend, I think you’re SO fashionable! Have you seen me?? Yeah, I’m a hot mess.

Thinking sweet thoughts & sending up prayers for Hayes today…and you, too, Mama!

As for the crack taters, um, I made Plain Chicken’s crack dip & crack bread last weekend: HOLY DELICIOUSNESS! I have some frozen shredded potatoes in the freezer…guess I’ll be making crack taters, too! Ha ha!

  5. Candace says

Good luck in Charlotte. Maybe it will end up being a fun little trip that you get to share with them. I’m sure Hayes will do great with the band.

I hear you about the frosting! I have some rainbow chip in our fridge now and it’s totally taunting me! Good luck at your appointment for Hayes today!

One of the great things about oil cloth is don’t actually have to sew it. It’s thick and the edges don’t usually roll up if it doesn’t have a seamed edge. I’m not sure exactly what you are doing with it, but I say buy it and cut it how you want it and don’t worry about sewing it.

So sweet that Hudson is singing about Noah. I just love hearing my niece and nephew talk and sing about anything to do with the Bible and Jesus. Makes my heart smile!

  9. Kari says

Poor Hayes! My cousin’s twin boys have milk allergies & they often had ear infections before they knew about the allergy .. horrible ear infections are a symptom of having a food allergy in children. There are tons of food items that children are allergic to (wheat, dairy, nuts, etc.).. just some info to think about!

  10. Cristin says

I’d love a spring fashion for moms post….I just realized I have no spring and summer clothes b/c I’ve been pregnant the past couple of years and just hadn’t gotten anything in awhile!

  11. Hayley says

I just have to say that I have the mascara picking compulsion, too! It used to be really bad but I’ve gotten better at it. And, I got Latisse to help grow back the lashes I’ve picked out!

  12. says

    Hey girl!

Good luck at the appointment with Hayes today. Too bad the weather here wasn’t better today for you! You’re awesome to go to his appointment with Hudson sans Todd but you’re a strong woman. I have realized I can handle appointments to the Dr with both kids by myself amazingly well considering I had to have my husbands help when we just had one kid. Crazy I thought one was hard haha! Anyways that dish looks delicious. I’m finally enjoying a minute of me time and wanted to let you know I was thinking of y’all today at the appointment. Poor little guy can’t catch a break but he will feel so much better after getting his tubes! Have a great weekend and keep us posted. 🙂

Oh and you know we’d love some Mommy Spring fashion tips!

    Sooo, here’s what I’m thinking.
I would love your spring wardrobe ideas. Your wardrobe posts are the best because I feel like they are authentic. Does that even make sense? Basically, I’ve read some style posts and a $680 sweater $1500 boots isn’t going to cut it for me. For me, your wardrobe posts are full of style and functionality with clothes that people can actually go out and purchase.
I’m a mascara picker too and sometimes I think, “I wonder what this is doing to my eyelashes?” Oh well.
Hope the appointment went well today!

  14. says

Um…funny you mention the frosting, because I literally just sat down at my computer after eating 2 spoonfuls with animal crackers. It’s amazing, but BAD!

  15. says

fashion tips please… possibly under $50????

um frosting & hot fudge are the WORST to have the the fridge

you go girl… going to Charlotte all by yourself, you are one great momma

  16. says

Poor Hayes. I hope he feels better soon and that the helmet doesn’t bother him too much. We go for our evaluation next Friday. Our physical therapist thinks she will be right on the border for needing one/not needing one.
Also, as soon as I read the words ‘mascara picker’ I immediately started picking at mine. I’m so bad at that too!

  17. step moMster says
