late night post!

It’s 9:05 p.m. and I’m finally sitting down to blog. I had good intentions and now I can’t promise that this post will even be worth reading. But I do promise it won’t be too long, so it won’t take you long to read it. Deal?

  • Today was a great day. I dropped off Hudson at school, ran to two meetings for Junior League decorations stuff and then picked up Hudson from school. I had lunch (a delicious gyro from Devine Foods) with a super great friend who is a fellow boy mom. I loved hanging out with her. She brought lunch to our house so we didn’t have to risk having our babies in the restaurant. Love that. Good day.
  • My sweet boys took naps and then I talked to two more great friends on the phone. Love that.
  • I had great intentions of recording a vlog for you all about some fun, organization-type topics. But while I was recording “take one,” my door bell rang, my dogs went bananas and my kids woke up. The second time I recorded it, I played it back and there was no sound. So I gave up. Don’t love that.
  • Lately, I’ve been finding that I’m trying to watch a TV show and I realize I’m not really paying attention. So I just go to bed. Or I’m driving down the road and start changing the radio station and then forget what I’m doing and end up either listening to static or some crazy inappropriate music. Weird. Please tell me you’ve done that, too.
  • I’m sitting here right now listening to the Dixie Chicks because I still love them after all these years. Just like my friend, Rachel!
  • Earlier, while I was trying to fix my vlog, I was listening to The Canadian Tenors sing “Hallelujah.” I think I have just about every version of this song in my iTunes library, but this one is my favorite, by far. They sang it on Sunday night at the Emmy Awards. I was sitting here, at the computer, writing posts to be scheduled for this week and listening to the Emmys. TC was at work and the boys were asleep. I heard this gorgeous four part harmony and asked the Twitter Universe who was singing. And Twitter always knows. It was the Canadian Tenors. Listen to this.

Have a great night, friends!

I do that ALL the time!! Glad to know I’m not the only one!! I’ve caught myself watching the spanish channel before & when I snap back into reality, wonder why I’d been watching in the 1st place.
I’m glad you had a good day!! 🙂

I heart the Canadian Tenors. I saw them in a small concert setting last July and they are JUST as good, if not better, in person.

I loved loved LOVED the Canadian Tenors version of Hallelujah (thank goodness for spell check for that word!)… it’s the only part of the Emmy’s I watched and I was in heaven. I have been listening to it while writing my comment and it has just made me smile!

And I drive all the time and have no idea what I’m listening to or what I’m watching… it’s so bad… I’m glad to know that we’re all in this together! 🙂

    Good evening from Los Angeles!

Erin, my index finger and the car radio buttons are very well acquainted. They perform the random switch often and somehow I land on the Spanish only stations. In any case, it sounds like it was a banner day! Enjoy the rest of your evening.

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

Erin, I love this post. So simple, but so personal. I love the “Hallelujah”- now i think I want this sung at my wedding! Thanks for sharing. I watched the entire Emmy’s but don’t remember this part…maybe I was under going one of those mind not focusing moments! Happy almost Friday!

No you are not the only one who loses themselves in the middle of what they are doing! LOL! I have done it everyday this week…they say it is called “mommy” brain. And it is also a symptom of pregnancy…LOL!!!!!
And I love Carrie Underwood’s version of Hallelujah! If you havent heard that, you will love it!!

Ohmigosh! I “watch TV” or “read a book” all of the time, like last night, my hubby and I were watching How I Met Your Mother (which I already watch on Monday) and I was like … wait… did I watch this? because I don’t remember ANY of this… too much on our minds I think!

I totally still listen to the Dixie Chicks – it brings back memories of being 16 and piling into cars excited about the football game on Friday nights in high school! Both Wide Open Spaces and Fly were our high school anthem cds!!!

The Hallelujah version by the Canadian Tenors is good, but I think the best one is by K D Lang. They are all good though as the song is amazing. The funny thing is that if you listen to/read the lyrics, it is so NOT a religious song. However, it is played as such. Do some research into the writer’s life and the meaning of the song, and you will be surprised.
I was quite ill recently and nearly died a couple of times. I had several versions of the song on my IPod which I played in the hospital. It is now hard for my family to listen to because of the association. I guess things were quite bad once when it came on. Who knows, maybe subconsciously it helped pull me through?

I absolutely love the song Hallelujah!! Like you, I have listened to so many different versions of this song! I have a friend who has a video posted on you tube that, although it is extremely simple and does not have the beautiful accompaniment some of the more well known versions have, I still feel it is such a pretty recreation of the song! Figure you might like to check her out!
