roll call!

Hey, y’all! It seems that there are some new commenters and readers around these here parts. If you’re new here, welcome to Blue-Eyed Bride! I hope I haven’t scared you away yet.

And if you’re a long-time, faithful reader, welcome back and thanks for sticking around!

I’d love to know where everyone is coming from, so today’s post is pretty simple. If you’re reading today, leave a comment! My old faithful readers and my new readers. I want to hear from you! Just tell me your name and your blog address if you have one. If you want to, tell me what what state you live in or even your city. I promise I won’t try to visit you if I come to your town!

I just thought it’d be fun to see where everyone’s coming from! So please don’t leave me hanging…

Then I wanted to encourage you all to visit each other’s blogs. This is the best way to find new blogs and it’s a great way to bring people to yours. It’s how I found most of the blogs I read now.

On Friday, I’m going to link up with Kelly from Kelly’s Korner to tell y’all about my favorite blogs that I’ve found over the years. I actually have a little bit of anxiety about this because I have made so many friends through blogging and I am so afraid of leaving someone off the list and hurting someone’s feelings!

And just because I love him so, here’s a picture of my sweet baby Hayes. This little guy just lights up my life and I look forward to seeing his happy little smile every morning.

Hey, hey! I’m Brittany & I’m from a little area of North Alabama/Southern Tennessee that is split so that on any given day you can pass through both states just by doing your grocery shopping & postal business, ha. My hubby & I of 3+ years are expecting our first baby, a daughter, any day & we are naming her Prater Ellis after my Daddy who passed away from colon cancer last November (a month before we found out we were expecting) & my little sister who helped me care for him during his cancer journey. I wrote about that journey & now the aftermath, my love for all things southern, & other silly little bits at my blog – The life of A Steel Magnolia!

And I would just like to say, I am a (very) long time reader & I enjoy your blog so very much! I get a lot of encouragement & inspiration from your words, especially your transition from a working wife to a stay-at-home-mom, which is where I find myself in this season of life!

I love your sense of style and your sencerity with your posts. Sometime in the next *decade* I’ll be starting a family of my own and I really enjoy all of the details you give for how you handle your marriage and your boys. Thank you for that. 🙂

  94. Ryan says

I’m Ryan and I’ve been reading from the Richmond, VA area since before you found out you were pregnant with Hudson :). I attempted blogging when my daughter was born, but I wasn’t very good at keeping up with it! Now, I’m expecting twins in November and with 3 kiddos under 2 and 1/2 years old, I doubt I’ll pick it up again anytime soon. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your blog!

This is such a cool idea! I didn’t know blogs existed until I found your blog… literally. I think I was Googling something about weddings when I got engaged and you popped up! I’ve been hooked on Blue-Eyed Bride and blogs in general ever since. I moved to Lexington, VA two weeks ago.

Hi Erin! I’m from Richmond, VA and I’ve been reading your blog for about a year. I was initially drawn to read because I had a little girl in May and we were pregnant at the same time. It’s been fun to read your stories about Hayes and know that someone else is going through the same things!

  107. Carolyn says

Hi Erin!! Checking in from Baton Rouge, LA. I’ve been reading your blog for 2.5 years! I love that you go to great lengths to try to destroy the “perfect” image of yourself that we readers seem to have. It’s not working.

One of the main reasons I love your blog so much is that you say exactly what you think! You are confident in and unapologetic about your parenting style. Although I don’t always agree with you, I enjoy reading about your viewpoints. Isn’t that what’s fun in life? I look forward to each and every post! Keep up the good work!

    Hi Erin,
I came across your blog while researching wedding ideas for one of my daughters two years ago, and have been a faithful reader ever since. Now that I am a brand new grandma I continue to enjoy your daily ups and downs of life, knowing we have all been there, and as the mother of four daughters (oldest named Erin!) from 35 to 26, still experiencing many of the same joyful and not so joyful parts of life. I’m Karen from New York.

Erin – I’ve been reading since before you got married! You are such an inspiration from your family life to your style to your beautiful home to your organizational skills. Thank you for sharing those aspects of your life with us.

Born, raised, and started my career in Charlotte. Moved to Pittsburgh, PA two years ago – my husband’s hometown. Missing the South and all it entails. Just got married in Charleston.

I’ll be sure to find some new blogs to read – thanks for hosting!

Hi Erin… I’m not new to your blog, but I don’t comment very often. I use Google Reader, so actually making it to blogs slips off my radar since all posts are so conveniently lumped together for me! I have been blogging on our private family blog for about 5.5 years, but just recently started a new blog for things I’m doing around the house, recipes, etc. operationcreate.blogspot.com. I’m definitely a beginner in this world since I’m just used to posting updates and photos of our 3 little girls. I live in Peachtree City, GA.

  130. says

Hi there from San Francisco. I’m so glad you’re doing this because I can always use some new blogs to follow. Our lives are pretty different, but I appreciate your honesty and can’t get enough of your munchkin.

Long time reader from California! I truly enjoy reading your blog, and I find it very helpful. I don’t even remember now how I stumbled upon it, but I am glad I did. Hi Erin! I started reading a couple of years ago when I was a newlywed – no babies yet but I do so enjoy reading about your experiences starting a family – you’ve helped me become more confident that I too can be a good mother and wife when that time comes (I’m still a little scared of going down that road!) I’m in Dallas and have a blog about cooking, decorating, and entertaining – http://www.deuxmaisons.com. What a fun idea this was!

    Good morning from Los Angeles!

I’m a New Orleans gal, born and raised, but have lived in Memphis, Oxford, Charlotte, and most recently Tokyo, Japan with my two precious children, 11 & 3, and my sweet, hard-working Husband. We were there for the devastating earthquake, and marks one of those moments that will stick with us for the rest of our lives.

We’ve just moved back to the states and are in Los Angeles for the next couple of years. The weather is always gorgeous, the people as friendly as they are in the South, and the food divine. We even found a new church! Praises!!!

I’ve been reading faithfully for well over a year, though have commented irregularly. I enjoy your honesty and how you blog for the sheer joy of loving your family. You have such a sweet one!

Take care Erin and enjoy the rest of your week…

    Warmly,

    Elizabeth

I was born and raised in Columbia, SC, but now live just outside of Greenville. I love the upstate and being near Clemson (my alma mater), but Columbia will always be home. I don’t have a blog yet, though the antics of my 8 and 12 year old boys would provide plenty of good reading material. Your blog is fun for me to read- brings back memories. And I can relate to your struggles, as well.

Hi! I’ve been reading for several months now. No…I haven’t commented. 🙂 I love reading your raw honesty about being a mom and your life. It’s tough and lots of blogs ignore that fact.

I live in Arkansas and am a born and raised southern belle. I have three daughters, Emma Claire (7), Hannah Brooke(4) and Catherine Grace (2). They are SO fun and wild. I love them to pieces. However, it’s SO so hard to keep up with everyone, plus work and my marriage.

I have followed your blog since before you were married–not really sure how I found it! I am a grandmother of 3 (soon to be 4!), born and raised in Columbia, SC and a HUGE Gamecock fan!!! The thing that makes your blog stand out to me is your attention to correct grammar! I get so tired and discouraged reading other blogs because it seems that no one out there has ANY grasp of the english language anymore!! (incorrect use of apostrophes bothers me the most–ha!) Your boys are precious and I love reading about them!

My blog is private (after some weird stuff happened), but if you want an invitation, drop me an email. Thanks!

I have a 3 year old, 2 year old and 3 month old and have loved reading about you and your boys (my last 2 are very close in age to yours). Hayes and Baker are 6 days apart! Especially the transition from one child to two, it was very difficult for me, more so than from 2 to 3. My blog is set to private, so just let me know if you’re interested in an invite. Take care!

To drive down the street and think, “I’ve never met those people, but I know what their bathroom looks like!” Oh, now I feel weirder. I’m not stalking you. Really. But your kids are gorgeous!

    Hi from Charlotte NC
I’ve been reading your blog for a good while now. I’m a grandmother with almost 3 grandchildren.
Finn just turned 4, Callahan is 2.5 and Sullivan is due in November. I’m very involved in their lives, purchase almost all their clothes, iron them almost every week and do whatever I can to help my daughter. She works full time from home for a big bank and needs all the help she can get with these babies. I love every minute with them and am very blessed to have them so close.
I loved being a mom when my babies were young and growing up more than anything. It was the best time but having grandchildren is so much fun and can’t be beat. Time goes by so fast and before you know it you’re 62 (but wish I were 40!).
Love your blog and the way you parent. Keep up the good work.
    Linda Miller (aka Nonna)

Hi! I’m a fairly new reader to your blog. I really enjoy reading it though so I always find myself coming back. Did you ever imagine that this post would have over 650 comments? You are quite popular 😉

My blog can be found here: http://themottos.blogspot.com

I’m coming to you from “Middle TN”. but really right near the KY border. I’m hoping that within the next year we’ll be able to move to the Northeast. It’s such a scary change, but we’re taking it as a leap of faith.

Thanks for being real on your blog. I really enjoy it!

Hi! I’m from Maryland & have a 10 month old daughter. My husband and I both work full time but we’ve managed to work out some flexible work schedules so our daughter only goes to daycare 3x a week and we juggle the other 2 days. Sometimes it’s overwhelming (so I’ve appreciated your recent posts on time management and being supermom) but I wouldn’t trade those late nights at work because it means I get to spend the day with my girl. Anyway, I love reading your posts 🙂

Seriously, such a beautiful wedding!
I love your blog! From your wedding to the birth of your sweet boys, it has really been a joy to read!
I just had my first baby, a girl, on July 3rd this year. Your Mom posts have been a lifesaver for me! So glad you shared your success with Moms on Call. It has worked great for our family too! ( I also should thank you for introducing me to Hanky Panky and the TB Reeva! Life changing, haha! )
Although I have yet to start my blog, I’ve added my blog address because I plan to start very soon. Mostly to keep track of everything my baby girl is doing. They just get big way to fast!

    Hi Erin,
I am originally from Birmingham, Alabama, but live in Corfu, Greece with my Greek husband and our daughter. I have been reading your blog since early summer 2010. I enjoyed following along on the pregnancy, birth, and newborn phase of Hayes, as my daughter is only a little older (born in February.) I have never commented before, but I really enjoy reading your blog. I have no real mommy friends here, and though I am a usually a silent reader, I have found a real sense of community in the blog world. It is nice to know that others share the same joys and challenges that we all face as mommies and homemakers and wives and daughters and friends. It has been a real encouragement to know that I am not alone. Also, I took your advice and did Moms on Call back when you first mentioned it. It really helped us out as well! Thank you for your dedicated and honest blogging I look forward to it every day! Haley

    Hi Erin
I just started reading your blog about 2 years ago. I am reading from Charleston, MS. I am about 45 minutes from Oxford and a little over an hour away from Memphis. I have a nine year old girl and a 5 month old girl. We tried and prayed for many years to have a second child and God’s timing is perfect. My nine year old adores her sister and the 5 month old adores her as well. I shared with you over twitter recently our nine year olds name (Mary Hays) after you shared what y’all were planning to name Hayes. I know you love family names like me. Our 5 month old is name after my lebanese mother in law whose maiden name is Rossie. So we call our 5 month old Rossie (pronounced “Rah see”). Anyway enough rambling about me. I love reading your blog and your boys are so precious.

Hi there from Chattanooga, TN! I found you through Kelly of Fabulous K, I think right after you had gotten married. I went back and read all your GORGEOUS wedding planning posts and I think it was shortly after that that y’all discovered you were pregnant! I’ve said this before, but I’m very thankful for your honest and authentic voice about mothering, your faith, and finding a balance between being a woman and a mom. Thank you!

Hi there! I’ve been reading for about 4 years. We got married around the same time and it’s been fun watching your family grow and change. I blogged off and on until I got pregnant and then morning sickness hit me like a freight train and new motherhood even more so. I’ve tried to jump back in with twitter. You’re probably already growing tired of me mentioning you, but you have such great advice and wisdom and I appreciate that you’re a bit ahead of me on the motherhood journey. I was born in Indianapolis, moved to Charlotte in elementary school, and currently live in Greensboro, NC. I’m trying to get back on the blogging saddle and just wrote a 2 year recap in hopes of inspiring myself-or at least seeming a bit less sketchy to people when I tweet them or comment on their blogs. http://www.amandanothingmore.blogspot.com twitter @amdavee
