Q & A for you

Once a year I try to do a post like this. I get a lot of emails and comments that ask me to answer questions about the way we do things or advice on various topics. Lately, I’ve gotten questions about c-section recovery and process and baby care, products, and suggestions.

It’s hard for me to answer all the emails- just because I rarely get a chance to actually sit down at the computer. I get overwhelmed trying to answer emails on my iPhone, so maybe I can answer a lot of your questions this way.

So if you have questions about babies, c-sections, pregnancy, or anything else I’ve mentioned or touched on lately, ask away!

Since I’ve blogged about having a newborn before (with Hudson) I’m not sure how much is repetitive, but I know some of you weren’t reading my blog when I had Hudson.

This will also help me get some of my blogging mojo back. I need content! So thank you!

So ask any question you have about stuff I’ve mentioned and I’ll answer them on my blog.

In the mean time, check out this funny video of Hudson. We were watching the American Idol finale and Marc Anthony was singing (while J.Lo provocatively danced next to him). Hudson was trying to dance, but wanted Boudreaux to dance with him. We thought it was pretty cute!

I’m probably the only person who cares, so feel free to ignore in favor of more exciting questions, but I would love to know how you guys trained your dogs to be so absolutely sweet with Hudson. Any special tricks or tips to having a baby-friendly dog? Husband and I currently have neither dog nor baby, but want both in the not-so-distant future!

Hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day!!

My sister/brother in law and my best friend are both due with their first children in Oct. They are a week apart with their due dates! What would you suggest as a new aunt I can to do be helpful and not overbearing or annoying. I’m going to set up a meal schedule for my girlfriend through our Brunch Club, but other then that, I’m not sure what to do! I know this is a broad question…I’m just so excited and want to be as helpful as possible to them!

I know you mentioned being overweight at one time (was it college? Can’t remember). I was wondering what you do to keep the weight off, because I think you look absolutely gorgeous. Also, did you exercise during your pregnancies or follow a healthy/ier diet than when not pregnant? Do you have stretchmarks? Did you use any products you believe helped prevent them? This next question might be a bit too personal, so don’t answer if you don’t want to: how long did you try before becoming pregnant with Hayes? Sorry for the overload of questions, just some things I am thinking of.

Ditto on everyone else’s comments about how cute your dog is with Hudson. 🙂 And btw – until I heard you say it on the video, I never knew that was how you pronounced Boudreaux. 😉 So one thing I am so nervous about whenever we do have baby number 2 is how do you handle not being able to pick Hudson up after a c-section? (I will have to have another c-section too and my son is also a big boy – 35 lbs at 2 years old). Are there any things you plan to do differently with Hayes than how you did with Hudson (feeding/sleeping/schedule type stuff)? I don’t have any regrets with my first, but at the same time, I know we all learn a lot and may choose to do some things differently the second time around.

Hope you get your blogging mojo back… but don’t stress! Just savor this time with your two boys ~ I think all of your readers are happy for you and understand that your time is even more limited now. We’ll all be here whenever you find time 😉

Love that Hudson wants to dance with your golden! We have a lab and H just adores playing with her!

I’m struggling with adding another to our family because I feel our balance as a family of 3 has just gotten great and am scared to shake it up! How did you all decide to try for a 2nd and how have you balanced it?

LOVE LOVE LOVE this video of Hudson and “Boodoh”

I’m curious to know how you keep your house so clean with 2 dogs — especially 1 that sheds.

Also, I’ve seen you post your LV bag before but I’m curious of the style?

What a sweet video! I love that Hudson is doing his very best to get the dog to dance 🙂

My husband and I are hoping to be pregnant this year, and we’re wanting to also add a dog to our family at some point. Would love to see something about having a dog and a little one.

We have 3 dogs…all of whom shed. Ick. Do you have any tips on keeping your floors as dog hair free as possible? I have become so OCD and anal about this since we’ve had Grayson! I feel like I can’t get my floors clean enough for a crawling baby!

Where did you get the car/dump truck fabric for Hudson’s room? If you bought it locally, do you know who makes it? Thank you!

I know you had some complications when you had Hudson. I also had a big boy and after the fact was told I would have healed faster with a c section. I would like to know which was easier? Also, how did you and your doctor decide to do a section this time around? You may have already touched on those but I missed it! 😉

What an adorable video of Hudson and Boudreaux!!! I would love to know what you found to be one of the best parts of pregnancy and what you found to one of the most challenging parts of pregnancy. Love your blog!

LOVE that video!! So cute. I would love to hear about a “day in the life”. I know you have done this before, but as a stay at home mom I sometimes struggle with the monotony of the everyday life….I know once I have 2 this wont be a problem–but I love hearing about SAHM daily activity! Hope you are well Erin 🙂

I think I read a post of yours about “babywise”. I also used the tips and advice in this book for my first daughter and it worked so well for us. She slept through the night pretty quickly and had regular naps down very well also. I think this “flexible” routine is why when she is awake she is so happy and always seems to be having fun. My question is that I am due with my second in July and I am nervous that I will forget everything I did the first time. Have you been using the “babywise” stuff for your second? How has it been working with already having a little one running around? Any advice you could give would be GREATLY GREATLY appreciated. Your blog is so good!

Before you decided on Hayes’ name, were you set on it starting with an H? If you were to have more kiddos, would you follow the H theme? Just curious 🙂 love both their names!

Would love to see a post with pros and cons to both types of child birth (naturally and c section). I know your experience the first time wasn’t great, so I would love to see a comparison. Love your blog! 🙂

Hudson is so cute!!! I was wondering what are your favorite baby products? I know you shared them with Hudson but I know mine changed with my second. Also How long do you keep your baby’s home before you start/started taking then out of the house with you?

  18. says

I want to know where you got Hudson’s car fabric in his big boy room. Also, my son was a big baby like Hudson. Natural or c-section? Which would you do again? It took 2 weeks to halfway recover from having Kace and I can’t do that again with a second one. Thoughts?? What changed from baby one to baby two? Products, methods, things that “didn’t matter” anymore??

This is such a silly question, but i just love your fashion style. What are some of your favorite brands for dresses, jeans or even purses?

Hudson is too cute with boudreaux

Hi Erin! Your family is beautiful!

I was hoping you could talk about something you mentioned once before – your breast reduction. It’s something I’m very curious about for myself. Specifically, how it affected your pregnancies/breast feeding. It’s a personal question, I know! So if you’d rather not talk about it I understand completely! Thank you!

    Hi Erin!

First off, just want to say that you seem like a fabulous wife and mommy! I have a couple random questions- 1) do you see yourself having more kids down the line? 2) how did you and your hubs meet, and how long did you date before getting engaged (I love hearing couples’ love stories!), and 3) I agree, would love to know if you did any special dog training because Boudreaux is so great with Hudson!!

Love your blog, look forward to the answers post!!

Ooh, let’s see.. this one may have already been asked, but do you plan on having a #3 (I know, you just had #2, so might be a little hard to think about right now!), would you like a girl if so, or do you see yourself being a Mum of 3 boys? 🙂

  23. Monica says

A while back you mentioned a Melissa and Doug toy that helped Hudson learn his letters/numbers/colors do you mind sharing what that toy is…thanks!

  24. Liz says

What cutie pies! Thanks for sharing the video! I’d love to hear about whether you ever think about returning to work outside the home (I know you work hard now!) at some point (thinking about this myself, so would love to hear your thoughts).

I would love to see more pictures of your house. From what you’ve shown it is beautiful and I love your decorating style! I also would love more recipe suggestions since everyone you’ve posted that I’ve tried it so yummy!

I’m not sure if you’ve done a post like this before, but as a newly expecting Mom, I’d love a post about the essentials (and what you shouldn’t waste your time with) of a first time baby registry! It seems a bit overwhelming to get started, so any direction would be so helpful!!

    Hi Erin,
Adorable video! I have 2 questions:
    – I know you’ve mentioned Baby Wise on a couple of occasions. Are you using Toddler Wise at all? If so, what do you think about it?
    – What are your favorite baby products right now? Do you like the new stroller?

Thanks! I look forward to your responses 🙂

    My question is this-

Why are you so freaking awesome?

My other question is this- when you’re shopping for clothes for the boys, what do you look for? I know that you want your babies not to be dressed like little old men (which I think is awesome), but what other rules of thumb do you like to stick to? Just curious… 😉

Hey! I know you made a post about how you got HUdson to sleep at night- I was wondering if you would tell us how you get him to take his naps- if there is any ritual or something that you do or he just goes to bed on his own. I am having issues with my 18 month old and trying to get her to go to sleep is a battle right now! Thanks so much!
